LusciousLibra: Jeez... you guys have it really bad. We've been cold here and a little frost in the am but nothing slippery about the roads.

Here's to the sunny south east

You lucky thing. We in the real south east have roads like glass. I ended up on the grass verge this morning. 10 feet either way and I would have been in a ditch or in a wall!!!

Car just slid sideways..not a thing I could do but pray.

areyoureadytogo: was in my local town today and i was walking on the street their was this old lady in front of me and next thing her feet go from under her and smack on the ground the poor lady..
so when i got to her she had split her forehead but luckily she never broke anything i didn't move her as i have basic 1st aid course done!
anyways getting back to the point should the council be gritting footpaths, main streets or everywhere people walk

My car is covered in ice and it is snowing and windy right now. Don't think I will make it to work tomorrow if it keeps up. 15 miles on icy, snowy country roads.... I don't think so!!!

Hell No...why should the County Council be made to do any work or issued with Grit...just cos Met Eireann says that we are all in for a bad spell of weather
dunno
Sure Met Eireann are like men...they cant commit.... Did you ever listen to the forecast?
It will be cold in some areas....We will see snow on higher grounds...This will last for the next few days...confused So Generic...!
Sure it always sounds like the weatherman had a row with his girlfriend/boyfriend...They might only be predicting ice in their own homesdunno

It'd prob work out cheaper to import the salt than pay the quarries, it's not like they'd supply the grit for free...

after all, the Irish way is to make money at every opportunity, and if you can make it on the backs of someone else's misery, all the better - ya, that was a dig at the bankers, developers etc.

What amazes me so much is we get a few inches of snow and the country comes to a standstill, You look at Norway for example, they have a few feet of snow and minus 20 temperatures and and they can still function, we get that and its shut up shop everything, Even in manchester they have over a foot of snow and they can function no problem because they have saltlaugh roll eyes doh

SlimJim2009: Exactly dude, everyone do a bit in front of your house, shopkeepers (who Im sure some do) and people with time on their hands should help out..

Everyone thinks the Govt should be doing everything for us..plus there's precious little cash to buy salt..if they had stocked up and we no snow then it would a scandal that millions of euros where wasted when no snow arrived..

Here, you are are responsible for keeping outside of your house and your sidewalk clear from snow yourself. If you dont, the City will come along and do it for you.

And then BILL YOU.

doh dunno
