Due to my treatment Ive had to make major lifestyle changes such as no alcohol/junk food/cannabis..also having to take prescription drugs long term which throughout my life I have always avoided I know these changes are for my benefit to assist with my treatment but it dont make it any easier going from someone who was out partying every week enjoying life to the max is something I really struggle with....have you ever had to make big changes and if so how did you cope....

when I was diagnosed with diabetes I had to drastically alter my diet , much to my horror ( and yes childish temper tantrums) , also making sure I eat regularly etc, for my BSL . It has been worth it. Now I have new diet restrictions, exercise & work restrictions all because of surgery I have just under gone.

This time around it has been a struggle trying to stick to everything but I am perceviering.

My life has been a life full of changes, discipline and overcoming alot of madness as well. I had a fall about 8 yrs ago that left me with an injured back.....hairline fractured disc.....for the first three years i have had excruciating pain constantly. It changed my life ...i have to be careful how i bend, i miss wearing the heels i use to wear, i still do but i wear alot of wedges for work as they are more comfortable if i have to stand for any extended period of time. I stopped eating red meat about 20 years now because it was not digesting in my body as it should hence it caused me to get ill, then i stopped eating poultry because after i would get sick if i eat that too. Just recently started eating some seafood because i was ordered by the doctor to try some fish.....been eating a lot of salmon for the protein and lots of shrimp...so far so good.
I dont drink ...after drinking two beers got voilently sick for two weeeks , went to the doctor ...was told i cannot drink no alcoholic beverages because my body does not produce the enzyme that breaks down alcohol, however, i must say i do have a serious aversion to alcohol so that does not affect me in the least.

Now the latest is ...a few months ago i went to see a doctor about pain i was getting in my right heel for a long time...because of the nature of my job i thought it was just being on my feet all day everyday .....nope ...i have spurs in my heel...seen a podiatrist ....have to have an operation....its really painful......have to wear certain shoes....its really a pain ..not being able to walk long distances....i use to walk 4 miles and back everyday or jog...now i cant. Not fun.

Betty, I had to give up my Rock'n'Roll lifestyle as well in order to rescue my health and sanity. My G.P. was invaluble in helping me do this. I know now that one can still party without substances and that life is better...much better. hug Even changed my poor diet. I haven't 'exchanged' the usage for another interest. I've just learned that there are worse things in life than abstinance. People actually admire you for it and your attitudes change. Well, in my experience at least.

Hello you all,
I had to change completely my lifestyle 5 years ago. I suffer from sleeping desorders (Chronical Fatigue Syndrom) and Fibromyalgy. I always was very active and it was hard to admit I couldn't do anything but live like a 100 yr's old woman. Had to quit my job too.
It depressed me badly for quite a long time. Now I'm able to organise my life in accordance with my possibilities. One job a day; or 2 jobs a day followed by 2 days in bed.

The second big change in my life is that I left rainy Belgium and moved to sunny Cyprus 6 months ago. But that was my decision and I do not regret it. Sunny days and heath do help me to reduce the pain.

Kisses to all of you. kiss
