I'm having a little SB party here with a couple friends and my son is taking the day off from school tomorrow so he can watch the game. The broadcast starts midnight here so I got a long day of waiting ahead of me. I'll be making tacos and burritos for everybody and there will be all kinds of other junk food to choose from. My guacamole dip rules!!! Just finished making that and I need to stop dipping into it.

Colts 34
Saints 24

Anybody else having a Super Bowl party or going to one?

Are there Super Bowl parties in Canada Prana? Or is it just a minor event? The line is -5 with just about every sportsbook in Vegas and online and I've seen some at -4.5. I took Indy at -5.

In any case, here is my take on the game...

Gregg Williams is going to bring it like he has all year in big games and he may disrupt Manning momentarily in the first half. He better hope he creates some turnovers and sacks as well as get some helmets on Manning whether it's a sack or not. I can see a couple of late hits-roughing the passer penalties coming. In any case, it won't work because Manning is too good to be fooled or pressured into losing the game with bad decisions and throws.

The Saints will get theirs on offense in spurts, but the Colts defense will also get theirs. The Colts defense can fall asleep, but when they wake up, they cause havoc and they are a great tackling team. I really don't see Brees playing a spectacular game----the whole game that is. Since this game is on grass, the Saints would be better off going more power running orientated---the Colts defense is not as quick on grass and I've seen them get pushed around on grass against a heavy dose of running. The Colts LB's are undersized, but quick as hell. And if Freeney is unable to go the whole game, that would be huge---but the Colts have enough depth to counter that.

In any case, I don't think this game will be much of a contest in the 4th quarter. If the Saints win, I'd be really surprised.

Ya the local line just changed to -5 ...

Yes there are parties going on, no tailgating though. laugh For some reason frozen ribs don't go over well; but SB parties are 'almost' as popular here as they are in the US. Might even be bigger that xmas get togethers. hmmm

The companies who make nachos and beer will make a killing today. grin

Today is a huge profit day for grocery stores in America---I think it's even bigger than Thanksgiving, in fact, it is. I read that consumers will spend about $5.6 billion dollars on Super Bowl items including food and drink.

Both teams are very good. While Manning is one of the best QBs ever,
Brees is pretty darn good too. I do give the edge to Manning, especially since he has been there before & won. I see this as a shoot-out, especially with Freeney not at 100%. However, I believe the difference in this game ultimately will come with the Saints running game. I'll take the 5 points & the Saints. Regardless, I'm mostly rooting for a good game. These were the 2 best teams this season, so it's a great match-up. applause

Why do they where helmets and shoulder pads, serious question. Why do they stop/start- time out etc etc after running 10 or so mtrs. Great for the Saints especially since Hurricane Katrina (Good for the Soul). Way too much hype especially for a game thats not played on a global scale apart from Canada which has slightly diff rules. Rugby's the game AMEN!!!!!!

You're just envious because the final in Rugby does not attract over 100 million viewers and how it's not considered a great spectacle. tongue We Americans love our game and the Super Bowl. If you can care less, so be it.

Fair call, I suppose baseball is similar in ways to cricket as is grid iron to rugby or league, at least they always win when they have no competition rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

On a serious note though mate, they do play American Football in a number of countries around the world, they do have a competition in Australia ( still relatively small) & baseball is big in a lot of countries especially Cuba, Japan & Korea .

definately doesnt have the following cricket has but we are lucky with the sub continent being obsessed with it especially India. handshake
