JAN_is: I didn´t say they were did I? I referred to the abbreviations, having in mind particularly their usage on dating sites.

I also said I prefer bigger men.

Then if you prefer them bigger, and to you he's hansome then he's a BHM. I don't see a problem with the term if that's what a person is. After all one woman's obese is another woman's burly and huggable.handshake

True, but I think everyone who refer to themselves in this way probably is (or is flirting with obesity). dunno

Referring to yourself as "proportional," for example, seems to be a way of saying "I'm carrying some extra weight, but am not obese," and I think most people I've seen here use that term correctly.

But if you call yourself "big and beautiful" then I'd suspect it would be rare that you're not quite beyond a "few extra pounds."

That´s what I was trying to imply.

Obesity just cannot be wrapped up in any other polite terms, and is obvious for all to see, even those of us who prefer bigger men or women, so I don´t agree that obese is another person´s burly or big. Obese is obese.

Now in my original post I never said anything about dating a BOM(Big Obese Man)I said a BHM(Big Handsome Man). And quite a few ladies have no problem with it, I also said that there is a big difference between having a few extra pounds and getting to the point where you were so large that you now had health issues. There are BIG men and then there are OBESE men. Here's the other thing - personal preference, if a woman says to me I like big guys but not obese guys and I look at the same guy and the few extra pounds she finds nothing wrong with is a turn off for me because to ME the guy's too Obese then its down to in the eye of the beholder. Now he might not be huge but way pass the limit of what would attract me. There is also the factor of how people view themselves and how others view them.wine

I kind of thought you were performing a reversal of BB, Taino, but true, there's lots of different degrees of overweightedness...heck, I'd be waay overweight for a marathon-runner! And yes, it is in the eye of the beholder.

For me, when I see someone a bit hefty but they've got some good supportive muscle and/or is large-boned, I don't even think of them as being fat. My neighbor's like that. He's probably carrying an extra fifty or so, but he's got a lot of muscle, so he doesn't look that bad. I used to be that way myself at 235 at 6'. I surely was carrying some extra poundage, but I don't think anyone would call me fat (except some 16 year old girls driving by blues) laugh wine hug
