I can only speak for my own surroundings - yes they are - mass Hollywood and other production of movies for the teenage and early twenties market. Unheard of when I grew up and went to the flicks three times a week and had to watch, absorb and enjoy adult movies. (Apart from the Elvis Presley flicks which I thoroughly enjoyed as well of course).

I have always had hi standard of character for the people I hang around with. and I have never compromised that And have spent most of my adult life single because of it. I stopped dating when i was 22 after more drama and loss than any one should have to deal with now i'm 38 and trying again and it has not changed for the better, infact it gotten worse or is it just me is there hope or should I tell the world to piss of and go hermit in the woods for the rest of my life. I have never been good with people and the hermit in me wants out. I might just listen to him
I do not think people are getting more shallow; they are just getting more selfish and twisted; thanks to reality tv and other modes of mass entertainment.... High school for many are difficult times, the whole transitioning into adults is daunting and a horrible change of events for many...... Honestly you have to be careful of who you open yourself up to these days. Unfortunately first impressions never can be taken back and looks do play a role in many relationships... reverting to being a hermit will not help what you need at this moment, clearly. Just hang tight and let things come naturally

whitec: seem to me you need to try to learn some social skills , it wouldn't hurt to try , my son has autism and had no social skill at all but with time and understanding , and love he is doing so great now, I am not saying that you have Autism, but there are a lot of people out there that have a problem with social skill, your not the only one hun so hang in there, if CAN HELP IN ANY WAY JUST MAIL ME

Are you serious lady!!, hes last therapist hung herself and she was a professional!!(hes words not mine), the man is beyond saving, he is unbending, no wonder he hasnt had a date!. I think the best we could do for him is buy the tent and a one way ticket to the outback of nowhere!. I think your nuts, nobody has to fit to society, that's nonsense. Everybody has stuff they need to deal with, and nobody has same experiences, to judge that others must conform to an out of control dishonest, greedy society is ridicules. Society needs to get rid of its dogma and start understanding the needs of its citizens rather than pushing there collective crap on others.

Really, I am nuts am I, when did you become the guru and moral judge of all society, everybody has to comply to some rules of society or you end up an outcast as this man has, but hes own values make him the outcast. We may not like all of it and sometimes we try to change some of it. Yes we do disagree, yes he has stuff he needs to come to terms with, but we are not experts and canoot advise him, it could be bad advice, but by hes own statements he does not want to fit to normal society. That is my final say on the matter and just my opinion. What the hell Afghanistan has to do with anything I just dont know. Please do not presume to know me or how I have lived my life, or what I have seen. I would never agree with all that happens in this world some of it is abhorrant, but we live in a Capitalist society, not a great system but the best one around at the moment. Society norm in Afghanistan either under the War lords, Taliban or the current Occupation is for those living there societies norm. I personally found America the most dangerous western nation i ever visited, heaps and heaps of religious crack pots, gun slinger's all over the place, bank robberies where the robbers shoot everybody in the bank, all sorts of norms in there society i can well live without. More people visit shrinks in that country than any where else on the globe that i know of. Yet it claims to be the leader of the free capitalist world, bumkin, your on your own in life, we will all die alone so might as well face up to working our stuff out, to put someone down instead of assisting is wrong pal

I would not disagree with some of the points you have raised, I for one think Capitalism is a very flawed system.
