Hi Heidi, thanks for that, I've seen that one, good isn't it. Back in Scotland !!!! Are you mad woman, the beaches just aren't what you are used to you know.....
Sorry for the short notice folks but I am meeting up with Patmac this Friday for a few beers and then going to see a friend perform a comedy standup gig at the State Bar. Was hoping / wondering if anyone would like to join us.meeting at 8:30pm @ the COUNTING HOUSE
2 Saint Vincent Place, Glasgow G1 2DH
Easiest to get to 30 yards from Queens St. station, big Witherspoons pub, good beer, cheap and within easy walking to lots of better venues if enough turn up. Pub is on the South West corner of George Square.... Merchant city bars ony 100 yards or so away.... Live music, Tapas bars and all manner of good times....
then for me and whoever wants to join in, it's along to the comedy gig ......
" JIM PARK Is Never Knowingly Underwater"
Friday, 12 March 2010
Time: 22:30 - 23:30
Location: The State Bar, Holland St, Glasgow
Description
In his debut Glasgow Comedy Festival show, Jim Park documents his meteoric rise to obscurity as a stand-up comedian. We delve into his comic roots ; meet his clinically insane relatives and explore his early childhood on the hot streets of Springburn. His inexplicable delay in becoming a stand-up was finally ended as a result of experiencing near-death incidents in Largs and Colombia ; and within a year of embarking on a stand-up career, Jim was performing a 5 minute open spot at "McCabes Bar" in Ayr on a Tuesday night. This is his story...
Furthermore I am delighted to announce that Scottish Comedy's Martin McAllister will be performing a short set at the top of the show....
Why couldn't it be next week and I could have gone. Beware R.......Pat is not your normal Scottish bloke......
He..........

Now she tells us .....
Pat was great company, as always. He took me to the Scotia bar, one of the oldest if not the oldest in Glasgow. It was like being inside a ship with a low wooden ceiling and sloping floor even, due to subsidence. There was live music but we moved quickly on to the old Fruit Market where there are lots of open planned restaurants and bars. Didn't have time for a drink there as need to get to a venue where I friend of mine was doing a stand up comedy gig. It was his first attempt at a one man show with new material which, lets say needs a bit of fine tuning yet ....
Looking forward to another night out in Glasgow sometime and discovering more of the traditional type bars with character.
It sure is a lot cheaper drinking in Glasgow than it is in Edinburgh. Here we pay £ 3.20 on average for a pint of Guinness but paid only £ 1.80 in one of the bars there !!! No wonder they are all a bunch of piss heads through there .....
