You could take the ferry to France. My friend did it last year with 4 children - including a 1 year old. They drove to a huge mobile home site and stayed there for a couple of weeks. THe kids loved it with all the space and they could come and go as they pleased.

Disneyland Paris, i took both my kids for 4 nights and we had a ball, went to the wild west show cant say anything bad about the holiday other than let the kids window shop till the last day otherwise they would fleece you.

TurkishDelight: For Wolf...the kid as achieved more than you could ever do. He has travelled exstensively over the years, but due to his AUTISM he is finding it harder and harder to deal with the rude muppets who seem to leave their manners outside the door of the airport

You didn't say he had 'AUTISM' in your initial query. You did mention that he had travelled before, so it seems whatever you have put him trough in the meantime has had an adverse effect on his development. Shouldn't you be asking experts in 'AUTISM' about suitable holidays or at least stating clearly that is is a child with 'AUTISM' that you are seeking suggestions for? And should you really be using his 'AUTISM' as a weapon to attack a comment you don't like?

"my sons needs" in the OP would have suggested that he had additional needsdunno

Any hows....I am looking for suggestions, as I said previously I am prepared to drive anywhere. I have never been to a "resort" so, looking for suggestions to may be suitable for me to research.

Aviemore in Scotland is quite nice you can get a ferry from larne to stranraer its a lovely drive up to Aviemore and theres lovely bungalows to rent if you dont want to stay in a hotel. Its not a busy place very quiet plenty to do including a trip on a steam train and an adventure park

Friends of mine drove through France and Spain a few years ago to stay at a resort in Cambrils near Salou. The dad was used to driving though as he was a long distance lorry driver for a while. They said the holiday cottage where they stayed in Cambrils was lovely and not too crowded in May. Weather was terrific though and they and their two kids had a great time with a swimming pool and beach both nearby. Cambrils is a quaint town that is not TOO resorty and you can take boat trips around the bay. Salou, which is VERY resorty is not too far away and there is a theme park, Port Aventura, close by aswell.

I reckon you were driving all that way you could work out how many kilometres you could do and give yourself two or three days to drive down and book stops along the way and then two or three days to drive back as well, with a resort type week in the middle. I believe the roads all the way are pretty good motorways.
