A current poll (today at lunch) between some friends revealed we all had formal qualifications that we were not using. For me it is a BSW (Bachelor of Social Work) and a BAv Man (Bachelor of aviation management).
After a long career in I.T. i discovered that i am at my happiest when i do physical work and creating with my hands, so i went back to my first job and am now a builder.
I have college diploma as clothes designer; some courses of management, marketing, office work... Bach. degree in psychology and masters degree in Human Resources Management - interesting cocktail :)
But I must agree that all those different knowledge I need now in my work as lecturer in university; art-therapy group trainer; for organizing seminars and psychological groups.
One interesting thing I noticed now too - I'm returning back closer to my first profession and doing less stressful work, creative making nice things with my hands - crafts. Just I receive a lot of satisfaction from that (despite that not a lot of money, haha).

I once had a degree of sanity but now im not so sure and currently hold a diploma of "LIFE" the best education in the world
I studied for three years after work to attain my Senior Certificate, then studied for an Arts Degree in Ancient History and Classical Languages for a further seven years.
I had ambitions of becoming a teacher or a lecturer. I walked out of my last Latin exam realising I had only the elective subjects still left to complete, as I had attained my majors. However, during this decade of working and studying my life was seriously lacking in something. I made a snap decision not to go any further and I don't regret it. I'd rather live and enjoy myself instead of being shackled to the attainment of knowledge. Furthermore, I realised that the study of history, dead languages, philosophy, literature and art really don't matter in the pursuit of happiness. For my part anyway.
Mine are in Fine Art, and Combined Social Sciences, (Psychology, Sociology and Statistics), with various diplomas in Business, Craftwork, Taxation, and Teaching Adults (as a speciality, as opposed to kids). I have also spent most of my youth, and adult life, designing and making specialist clothing, on-going.
I have experience in many things that I worked at, and gained a working knowledge of. I also fostered 7 kids, long term, specialising in teens who had drug and alcohol addictions.
I'm a working artist, but have taught Art as a therapy, and Craftwork, for the Mental Health Association here, both in and out of their institutions, for many years, before striking out on my own.
I have very little formal education..and sometimes this shows in my spelling and grammer....however I have a lifetime of learning and understanding....Abe Lincoln is my mentor ...not really but you must admit it sounded good tho.....

Yep.
I originally had an associate degree in biology. But years later, after I moved to France, my university contacted me about a program to upgrade to a bachelor's degree through an external degree program. (independant study validated by GRE tests). I was nearly finished with the course for upgrading the biology degree when they notified me of a change in the requirements, they added a lab requirement that I couldn't do here in France. I got all the credits, but I couldn't graduate. So I changed my major to Education and studied for another year and took the GRE. But once again, at the last minute they notified me that, due to a new change, I would have to do 2 months of student teaching. So once again, I got all the credits but couldn't graduate. There weren't that many subjects left, to choose from for which I could graduate through testing. So I chose psychology, thinking it would be boring. But I was pleasantly surprised to find out it is a lot more scientific than I imagined. I really liked it.
So what I have in the end is a BA in psychology but with additional major-concentrations in education and biology.
I also did a French BTS (2 year degree) in "business communication" and 2 years of (French-college-level) French.
The studies I mentioned were all aimed at my advancing my former job as pedagogical director for a big language school.
But about the time I finished my studies I caught meningitis and it set off a hydrocephalus which progressively made it impossible to keep up such a high-demand job.
Over a period of 10 years I had to continually scale back my activities and save energy. I quit that job and worked for a company making midi-files and sheet music for the internet for 2 years. And then I just lived off of the income from my 2 music groups for several years after that. But as my condition continually worsened eventually I had to stop even that. Now I'm retired. So, in truth I hardly every used my schooling at all.
I'm retired and play golf, fish, play chess and travel. So I no longer use my education.
I don't know if this counts or what you were looking for us to post, but I taught at the university level for almost 8 years. The last time teaching 'Strategic Management for Technical Operations' to fourth year students.
