Just heard the sad news of the passing away of ex army chief of staff the legendary Dermot Earley, I had the privilege of shaking his hand and having a chat with him one time at a match, a true gentleman and probably the greatest footballer of all time, may he rest in peace.

Didn't he just retire a few weeks ago? Didn't get much time to enjoy his freedom.

May he rest in peace.

Sad news, 62 is a young age to go. From any clips I've seen he looked as brave as a lion and his son has been on one of the best players of the past 20 years.

Not only a top sportsman but excelled in his career as well (member of the elite Ranger wing of the army). The light of God be upon him.

Yea..my dad has a similiar story...having a chat with him after a match one time. By all accounts the nicest man you could ever meet.
Condolences to his family.
May he rest in Peace.
