All of my critters are outside now. I used to have an indoor dog, but she passed. I let the kitten come in for a while until it left. I let Chuckie in the other night because of his wounded ear. He had been sedated at the vets that day and I didn't want him outside. He's trained for inside. I pointed to the blanket, told him to lay down, and he never moved until I got up the next morning.

I let the dogs in during the wintertime, sometimes. They all lie down in the laundry room. One year Daisy, my Beagle, thought that she wouldn't listen to me when I told her to go lie down. She started running through the house. I told her I wasn't going to mess with her, I'd stick her behind back outside where it was cold. She kept a running. I grabbed her and put it back outside for the night. The next night when I let the dogs in, I told them to go to the laundry room (referred to as the kennel) and lie down. She went straight to it and never moved. They learn quick.

I don't like them in the bed, either.

I guess when an owner has that much control over his/her animals, I have nothing but respect for both owner and animal.

Plus, it's true that leaving a dog outside in the dead of winter is just not cool.

I am owned by a pug.

We have an elderly cat. She stays close to the house and does not hunt any more. She used to bring in a couple of mice every night.

Growing up both of us had dogs. My family had a golden retriever who was a sweet dog but no great mind. He was never allowed on the furniture and slept in his crate in the laundry room.

Katt's family had what they called a farm collie. She might have been a collie cross though. She was part of the family and was allowed on the furniture and in the beds. Usually she slept with Katt or her brother but if one of her parents was sick the dog acted as nurse and stayed with them at night until they were better.

I own a dog, and I certainly love animals, have hunted, and enjoyed the nutrition of a natural bounty.

See....this is what I was talking about. Weapons under the pillow, pit bull in bed. Yep, scaring them away.
