TheStillOfNight: Pets are awesome
They are better people than many humans!!!
As sad as that is.
And some fish can be like pets. I have 2 15inch S. American catfish that eat out of my hand & come up to my hand to let me pet them & rub their bellies. If you've ever had an Oscar cichlid, then you would know that fish can have quite a bit of personality too! These fish will actually pout and lay on the bottom of the tank.

I was into fish at one time years ago.
I had 5 tanks going at once and one of those was for Dempseys. 1 for tropicals, 1 for feeders, 1 for guppy's, and a salt water tropical
sultryash: I have a dog and as much as i love her to death, no. she does not live in the house...she has a huge dog house and its quite comfy and clean.
I love cats but i am allergic to them .
There is one easy and totally free cure for a cat allergy... 1st, go out and get yourself a kitten. 2nd, know that it is not the fur that you are allergic to but instead it is the saliva that the cat is generous to spread all out of the fur. 3rd. while the kitten is still too young to realise that what you are about to do bends all rules of the animal kingdom and the complete cats likes and dislikes 101 rule book, take it into the shower with you and hand it to your partner ( ) to hold while they have a shower 4th. do this daily, each time getting the kitten used to the sound of the water, then graduate to wiping down with a damp cloth, then putting the Kittens hind quarters underwater, until you are able to put the kitten fully under the shower and add pet shampoo 5th. dont forget to fully rinse and dry before allowing anywhere near a cat litter tray...this is imperitave 6th. By this time, your kitten will be fully used to being washed and the allergyn that used to irritate your allergies removed 7th. in your own time develop a natural immunity to the cat saliva allergyn
Of course, long term full strength exposure of the allergyn will do the same thing, so if you are happy to put up with the running nose, weepy jelly eyeballs and chronic asthma, then dont bother with the showers...just invest in antihystamines and kleenex. And you HAVE to start this when the cat is a kitten or it is absolutely a sure thing there will be considerable blood loss in the attempt
This really works...I was super allergic to cats to the point I was once hospitalised and my eyeballs would turn to jelly coated fireballs in my head! I couldnt bear to get rid of the tiny kitten I found dumped in the middle of the road, tied up in a supermarket bag, and took this advice from my sister. It reduces the allergyns long enough to comfortably deal with them while you develop an immunity. Now my cats sleep in bed with me, and although I didnt have to do this with my subsequent cats, my first is still a water baby. It was nothing for her to walk down my leg into the bath water up to her armpits and pull out the plug, and I went through several shower curtains replacing them after she shredded them trying to get in when I was having a shower. She's 13 now, and not really interested in being showered anymore, but I still find her paddling in the water that used to be in her water bowl, after she's knocked it all over the floor!
I used to have a grey squirrel, rescued from some ***** who thought running over its mum was fun. Great pet, used to climb inside my coat and hang in the back while out on the motorcycle. Finally died when it choked on a peanut (seriously!) I was gutted! Now I have a tank full of goldfish (ex-pond so virtually immortal) and a tank full of Ramshorn snails (for my daughter)
I have had a cat since I was young, we didn't have dogs. Then got married, the ex had always had dogs. We got into Doberman's. He was from a dog only family.
Now he has 3 cats, and 1 mutt.
I am very glad I have my Dobe. He gives me a wake up kiss every morning.

2 Cats, and a family of otters living 4 metres from the front fence ( not really pets) but they do play in the garden and also supply one of the cats with fresh fish, the smaller cat will not go near them, but the big cat helps himself to any food they leave,
