It is just a question to see who you know, do you know your neighbor well, and in the street that you live how many people would you say you know or are friends, and the same if you live in Flats or units how many people would you say you know or are friends, this was a subject we talked about at a community meeting last week and was surprised how many people said they really did not know who lived across the street or next door, so any thoughts or answers just interested to know.

I know everyone in my court and have quite a bit of contact with 3 of the families. I also know 2 of the families across the road from our court. I even have phone numbers of 5 of the houses close to mine.

every 6 months we reintroduce ourselves. One time a woman said hello to me at the local shop & the mind went into overtime if I slept with her or not…. only to find out she lived next door. doh

Yes that is Good, here there are 35 units, and not to far away a retirement village, a few of us here were friendly but we could say that not many people were real friends , so we decided on these community meetings or get together , and it has helped , people seem more aware to at least say good morning or stop for a chat, some of us just felt something had to be done to get people involved, at the moment 2 meetings a month and 67 turned up to the last meeting.

Yep, I know my neighbours on both sides, not in each others faces but I have their phone numbers in case I need help. help help help

I find it a bit of an awkward situation sometime being a 'single' woman, if you get too friendly with a couple, he might offer to give you a hand with something around the house, fix a door whatever, she might get a bit jealous and think he is after fixing something else?? doh hug sigh

Got to walk a tightrope sometimes.

Only 10 houses in our cul de sac so we tend to know who is coming and going, keep an eye out for each others places.

I think it is easier for a single guy to fit in than a woman??

cheers teddybear

i would be inclined to agree with you , my father always said you only need one friend in life and sometimes that can be to many. and every one is different in there own way.

I too do not have any neighbors but know most around me.Its a Country town so everyone pretty laid back.Everybody talks to each other but do not interfere in each others business.
But I know we are there for each other if needed.

"Everybody only needs one friend in life" or

"You can't have too many friends"

Which is it??

For me I think the second.

I used to live in a beautiful place half way between Sydney and Wollongong, my kids were born there so it was easy to make friends, mums group, school mums, sports mums, dance class mums.

Everybody helped each other out, especially a group of friends that didn't have mum and dad on hand to help out. Immediate neighbours were fantastic.

Used to take me about an hour and a half to get bread and milk at the shops as I used to see that many people to stop and have a chat with. Loved it.

It was the kind of place that the school bus driver knew just about all the kids, their parents and where they lived.

So sad to leave after my divorce. It hurt to leave my friends more than the end of my marriage I think. handshake hug purple heart
