exactly the point people in business just have to drop their price they cant expect to be the price they were a year ago!!i have had to drop the prices in my business

Easy now. I'm afraid the taxi business is the same but I've lived long enough to know that nationalism tends to pop up when the money supply drops. It's true here, in the UK, Germany and everywhere else.
Better to direct our anger at the incompetent and overpaid individuals who have driven the ecconomy onto the rocks and who up till now, have not been held accountable by another bunch of cowboys who God willing will be voted out in the next election.

i know how you feel and im self employed and have competition also but you have to look at it from both sides from a business point of view and people point of view
have you ever sat down and taught to yourself ok maybe i need to drop my price to get work and maybe you have!maybe you have to drop them more...maybe you do the work charge for the work and your labour and let them get the supplies just an idea!!
i had my plumber last week with me i buy the supplies he does his work!
my main pump went last week cost me over €100 to get it repaired he put in a bypass for me and rigged it up for me again

Maccas point is that cutting prices on like products is competitive but cutting prices by reducing workmanship is a false economy. He was naturally upset at the idea that his scenario and the one you brought up were not comparable...
