Amrita: Maybe he is simple at work and not so comfortable calling and say sweet words when other people listen?.....
I don't like if somebody call me without a concrete reason and bother me when I'm working, so text is not so annoying... I never call to my man with stupid question 20 times in a day 'What are you doing honey, I miss you...?" and don't want receive such calls
Maybe, you're right.
But, I didn't get the impression that we are talking about an all day everyday thing here.

Well, I understand that he is indeed busy working, that's why, I won't text him unless he does first (coz I don't want to annoy him). But he perfectly knows that I'm not as busy and I already said clearly what I wish. I mean, he could just make a short call during lunch, when he's on the way to / from the office, don't u think so? Help me please...Is it me being unreasonably demanding or something's really fishy here?
keepinitsimple: I already did...but he'd laugh or somehow divert the topic. Well, I realize that I get distracted quite easily too, so I seldom push for the answer. Should I give him one more chance, and ask him via text, or ask him when we meet or do I just ignore his texts and refuse to respond unless he calls (in which case, I think he'll call me childish for doing that...) What's the most mature thing to do here?
Ask him face to face. Make sure he knows it's an important issue for you. He'll either respect that, or not. Then it's up to you.

Well, I totally disagree with u on this.. Is it wrong to call the person u love just to say baby/honey I miss u or love u?
She she told him not to text she perfer to be called, if someone called u 20 times in a day that is stalking... You may not like to get calls but other people do.. Personally I think texting is not the best way to communicate I can understand if u r in a meeting or with friends do something else a text msg is acceptable...

Two things come to mind, 1, is he in another country with a time difference? That could cause talking a problem 2, Is there a language problem? When I chat to my Chinese friend, I almost always text, even though she has said voice calls are okay, but in my experience, voice calls often got misunderstood, whereas text messages were always clear and fully understood.
Personally, I would find that kind of behavior suspicious. He knows you prefer to voice talk, because you told him so; and still he insists on texting. Could be nothing, but I think he's hiding something.
I do agree with diogenes. His behaviour seems suspicious to me too. May be he has something to hide or for the least, he is very selfish and does not try to make you happy. Be careful.

1. He's staying in the same city as I am, so time difference and bludgeoning phone bills should not be a problem at all.
2. Well, he's not a local, so we communicate in English. I do not wish to brag here, but apparently I am more outspoken (both written & verbally) though it's not my mother tongue. But when we meet face to face, we can still communicate fine (we can understand each other and express our thoughts pretty okay). Well, come to think of it, maybe you do have a point here, riz...

Personally, I'd ask face to face... since it seems to be an important issue to you, face to face is the best way to go, that way, you can read his bodylanguage when he responds. and at that point, it would be up to you to decide what the next step ought to be.

Exactly my point...His calls, as short as it might be, even just to tell me how much he misses me, would definitely make my day...

It seems like he's trying to make it very discreet..
Im not allowed to use mobile phone at work, so i sneak out and text when needed.. I dont answer phone calls at work too, except those came from my office phone..
But, if i saw missed calls or messages, i will definitely return the call rather thn texting..
If nothing stopping him from making a call to u, why did he still insist on texting? Either not good at talking or hiding something behind your back.. Check him up girl..

Good luck!
That could possibly be the reason. I will ask him in the face when i meet him the next time then. This seems to be the most cold-headed thing to do, instead of ignoring his sms-es until he calls...
