I think a man wants to know that his woman loves him and is excited and happy to be with him. I would really need you to clarify dependant... do you mean the lady is unable to earn an income, needs physical assistance, is an emotional basket case?
Do health problems scare men off? NO .. thats been my experience. Health problems may scare some people off, but there are plenty of others who are able to cope with anothers health issues. Of course if the person is going to whinge and whine constantly, refuse to have treatments, use the health issue as a defence for all their other problems..... then YES that would scare anyone off.

I don't think that a health problem can be a problem when a true true love is involved.
I don't have any chronic healt disorders, but I do extreme sports and have often something wrong, especially this season: head concussion, bone fractures and other things. I guess it's not very feminine :)
