sultryash: to be honest...No ! my first instinct would be to squash it with my shoe.
I've read an email about parasites insides the roaches' body, which could spread in the home after it being squashed.
So I'd just use a sweeper applying a right degree of pressure that is barely enough to kill.
However, there is easier way to kill in the bathroom though. I'd apply a hot shower of...in my experience 60C...in a nice hot bath, it would be sent to heaven medium rare without fighting nor bloodshed
