If a man loves a woman enough to ask her to bear his child then he should also love her enough to take her wishes into consideration and marry her. Both sound very immature, oh well, you don't have to be intelligent to be able to breed.

From another perspective, he may want to really have a child and wouldn't want marriage without one. If she were barren as the old folks used to say, then he wouldn't want her for a wife. Pretty cold but his reality. Not very nice but his love may have conditions.

No he's not serious he wants to make sure he can cope with a child being around, and if he can't he will leave her as a single mother, and because he hasn't married her, there won't be a costly divorce.....
