But it does to me, and many others as far as I´ve read.
I´m not talking about non native speakers of English or those with obvious learning disabilities like dyslexia, nor those who just cannot spell well or make typos as I have done occasionally
I teach English and can very easily recognise why people make errors, so I can ignore this and post regardless. However, there are undoubtedly people here who do not have dyslexia and simply cannot write coherently, despite being native English speakers, because they are poorly educated.
Why do these people get so uppity when they are ignored or given a polite no thank you?
We all want to meet and be with someone we have something in common with, yet threads and posts about physical appearance or age seem to be far more acceptable and less provocative than those which have a concern about academic or educational ability.

I know, but it is an interesting point he makes. And I do think there is some relation between grammar and value of communication. However, I do not think they are always one and the same.

All i can say is thank goodness for spell check,or it would be a lot worse.I don't mind it,i can usually under stand what a person was saying.I am a bad typist so mine sucks a lot to.
Hi Jan, it is nice to see you. I have to say it did not bother me, at first. I am one of those individuals that have learning disabilites in addition to being deaf. That being said, it was never a point of contention for me as I do know poor grammar is not an indication of Intelligence. However, it is becoming more of an indicator for me as to if we would be on the same level or not. My late ex-Husband and I were on the same level intellectually and I have been finding, I miss that. Having someone to talk to about topics we both understand. It is rather disappointing to meet someone whom is very smart and did not have the educational opportunities when he was younger but has them now, however, no desire to better himself. This I can accept, the part I cannot accept is to be told to not continue with my education so as to be on the same level and then we could have a relationship. To me, it is far better to accept we are not on the same level and look elsewhere than to be told; "You know I don't have taht kind of learning" "Why do you gotta be over everybodies head?" "Why can't you just be normal?"
once a teacher told me it is not the way the words are written, but the meaning behind the words is what should matter.it should not matter how the words are written, but it should matter the meaning behind them.we do not live in a perfect world where everyone speaks or writes in proper language.some uses a broken language which there is nothing wrong.
what is wrong is when some are judgmental of others, which is some form of ignorance. what ever happen to accepting someone is they are and for who they are.no one is perfect no matter how much they think they are

time4fun4u: That sounds like the type of conversation people have when they are texting each other, using short cuts. That maybe okay for a mobile phone, but not otherwise. I am just useless on a keyboard, and get it wrong if i type fast.
I love it when people inadvertently press the wrong key in typing! It makes the threads more interesting and brings a lot of humour into otherwise argumentative and controversial threads. Or maybe it's just my warped "cents of humer"
