Is it me, or does there seem to be an unusual amount of seismic activity this year around the world?

Seriously it does. I don't believe in the 2012 prophecy, but it definitely kinda lingers in the back of the mind if you know what i mean

I was evaluating at that time if I should wake up my folks and get them out of the house , but as my father has a week heart, my mother cant be waken up without a gunshot next to her ear and my son would probably kick me in his sleep... I made a decision to go back to bed and enjoy the rocking ....grin

sorry to hear this news B ....sad flower

The USGS estimates that several million earthquakes occur in the world each year. Many go undetected because they hit remote areas or have very small magnitudes. The NEIC now locates about 50 earthquakes each day, or about 20,000 a year.

As more and more seismographs are installed in the world, more earthquakes can be and have been located. However, the number of large earthquakes (magnitude 6.0 and greater) has stayed relatively constant.

All i know is, I don't remember seeing or hearing about so many of them in populated areas as frequently as I have this year.

I hope someone doesn't come in with one of those "The government is shooting ray guns from space to cause earthquakes" type stories.
