Hi,
My name is Steve and I am a kiwi living in Australia & have been for many years now, I come from Greymouth where the mine disaster is unfolding, I have friends involved and know the mother of the 17 year old man, I would like to thank all the Australian public for standing by and offering there help and surport, talking to friends back home the appreciatian of surport is overwhelming.
All things aside when it comes to the crunch we will always stand beside each other.
Thanks Australia

Such a terrible thing to happen but we can only hope they are rescued alive and well. There is not much difference between the ozzies and the kiwis and a life is a life no matter where a person is born. australia handshake newzealand

Sincerely hope they get everyone of those miners out of there safe and sound Steve.

My heart goes out to their families, friends and loved ones - every second, minute, hour must be like slow torture for them?

Kiwis are just one of us - just got caught on the wrong side when the continents broke up!

Seriously - my and our hearts and thoughts are with the miners and their loved ones. Let's hope it has a happy ending.

I'm a kiwi too living in Australia, so fingers crossed they will be able to get everyone out. I can't imagine what the families and friends are going through at this present moment in time. When it comes down to it we will always support each other.newzealand australia

Talking to friends back home, it is a very sad day on the coast and will be until they can get the men out, if they ever can.

Hi,
I have just been in contact with a mate I grew up with who has been on the front line at the mine along with others I know, Jade his son is 21 finished his shift and was talking to the 6 miners on the face 2 klm down as he was leaving, young joe 17 first day on the job was one of them happy laughing and loving it, Jade got out of the mine 90 seconds before the blast.
We do beleive that the first explosion was that strong there would of been no survivors and that there passing would of been swift, as you can try to imagine it has torn that small town apart.
