annie_nsw: Hi Misty, you were reading my mind while I was having dinner as I was wondering if the two venues that I posted were a tad expensive for everyone especially by the time people pay for petrol and accomodation if they come down from Brissie.. the only pub locally here I go to for a meal is the Greenhouse which could be a goer. there is a nice pub in Ballina on the river called the Shaws Bay Hotel ..

Here in Grafton we have the Treetops or the Clocktower Hotels. Both having great meals and reasonably priced. Or there is Roches Hotel. I havent been to the Crown Hotel for yrs. With the Treetops we can book upstairs. That way we have our own bar working as well. At the Crown you can book the decking over the river...just a couple of suggestions for Grafton.

Bit of a long story, but we have two stores, already operated by a small staff between the two.
Back in July, one of the owners died suddenly .. he was responsible for doing all the accounts and back office stuff.
So, long story short, in time I put my hand up to take that on, as well as sales and day-to-day stuff in the store, as usual.
Then, a few weeks ago, a staff member resigned and the remaining owner, given that the other store is closing down in Feb, decided not to replace her.
So I'm filling in for her partially, plus doing the accounts .. busy busy, the days fly and I'm really enjoying it.
In March, when the dust settles, we'll regroup and see where where we're at

I went to the Crown last year for lunch..they have done it up some and the food was excellent and you can sit in or outside which is always nice ..

Awesome, seeing as it looks like we are the only locals from this area , how are you with Ballina ? I dont drink apart from a couple of wines so it doesnt worry me where we all go .. but I appreciate some will want to drink .. hmmm

Dare say you'll be needing one.. I haven't been to WA looks nice enough though and yeah plenty of O/S destinations to pick from and some good deals about .. I am hoping to get back to the States before I get to old to travel ..lol

Yeah, I haven't been to the States and probably have a couple more reasons to these days
I feel the same, I'd prefer to do the long haul trips and harder countries (Asia etc) now, while I'm still fit, and leave the Aus touring for my AAP coach twilight years

not disputing the country has some nice places that would be good to visit but its the people and their attitude to the rest of the world and their (USA) imprtance in it that gets my goat
but yeah I must admit.. the odd occasions I do scan through and do a profile search.. a lot of the good looking ones are yanks (young tho but then most of the good looking ones with pics are young regardless of where they come from
)maybe its a pity any yanks I have met here in oz have been just too ... not sure what word to use actually

Mm yeah, I guess you're talking about their (over)confidence, maybe arrogance and possibly ingrained belief in America, home of the brave, land of the free, salute the flag kinda stuff
But I really enjoy meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds, and tend to take it in my stride mostly .. we're all different and that's what I love about travelling
