Senate Republicans ,and others, must be proud of the great harm and mass homicide they have allowed to honest, hardworking Americans.

If you have came into contact with asbestos, there are about 300 law firms adversting on tv about every 15 minutes that will take your case in a class action law suit.

Usually the way the class action suits work out is that the lawyers get 95% and the client gets about 5%. Knock yourself out. help

Asbestos has been around for thousands of years and has been used from everything to insulation to brake pads for cars. The first documented case of asbestosis occurred in 1906, and was used all over the world in different construction/industrial/school projects and other industries, exposure and developing a related illness takes years upon years to be diagnosed.

I think our government should have been way more proactive about protecting workers and the safety guidelines should have been implemented when it was first discovered to be a carcinogen.

Hundreds of thousands of men and women die each year due to asbestos related diseases/illnesses and someone has to be held accountable, but it should be an equal distribution of blame, JMHO.

I've got asbestos paper around my flue pipe in the attic.

I'm trying to figure out who to sue? There's got to be someone?

Well, it surely would be nice to get the facts right....What they are trying to do is limit the punitive damages that can be awarded. That way it leads to less frivilous lawsuits.

With Republicans......it's all about entitlement for the coprporations and big money - at any cost.
It doesn't surprise me that they stalled banning asbestos when it's a cheap way for their corp buddies to make billions ( similar to oil manufacturing - and "drill baby drill" ) roll eyes

Some of it is personal responsibility too.
When I first learned long ago that the stuff can be a danger I limited my exposure to it.

People that worked w/ it not knowing the dangers and employed by people that did should be able to seek damages.

If neither knew about it and then problems showed up many years later....what can ya do?

Well, although it's true we knew about it in the 70's ....that still doesn't make the case for certain political interests blocking it being banned.
I remember first hearing about it back in high school when I was working as a car mechanic. But, in those days if you didn't keep your mouth shut and produce - you were fired...

There is always something you can do, just a question of sometimes figuring out the right combination of doors to knock on and of course spondoolics, that does help along the way.

This might interest some. It is a wikipedia link relating to Mesothelioma, which is a very rare form of cancer and is linked to asbestos exposure.

jvaski: Just watch the news tonite - with Boehner and his thugs behind him touting "we're gonna do what the American people put us here to do"
It's gonna be two more years of republicans blocking anything and everything - just to be indifferent ( as usual )
But in the end, most Americans will see right through their phony game and blame them for not allowing us outta this economic turmoil

I see 60 more house seats in 12'
I see 10 more senate seats in 12'
I see Obama gone in 12'
