Well if you visit Russia you can! This business deal is for the export of halal meat, and apparently separate slaughter houses are underway to produce it for the Muslim market...in canned form.
Can´t say either fresh or canned reindeer appeals to my tastebuds at all.

A balance has to be kept between the number of Raindeer and the grazing lands to ensure a good regrowth for next year, so in bad years if there are too many Reindeers, some have to go for meat production.

I´m a wimp where meat is concerned. I can only eat it if it no longer resembles an animal part, and definitely not anything which is from an animal which is "different" such as reindeer.
I can´t touch rabbit or goat which are popular here and the sight of rabbit in particular at the butchers makes me really queasy.
Even fish I can only eat if it has been cleaned, gutted and the heads removed by my very understanding local fishmonger who thinks I´m a bit crazy!
I think I should seriously think about becoming vegetarian.

Well dear Jan, I was in a place where you could have:
Whale, Reindeer or not to eat, so I chose Reindeer.
But, yes I am brave and I would try most everything once.
