you are 45 and retired? I don't get the desire for people to retire early. If you life's work bores you, change to something interesting, buy why retire altogether, especially so young? You will probably live about 30 more years. Are you going to spend the next 30 years lying around trying to find stuff to do? I have no intention of retiring until I have to. My career is interesting and stimulating, plus I am out in the world and interact with people of all ages. There is a problem with active, working people dating retired people because retired people have no schedules or limits on their time, they want to go off for 'a few days' whenever, while a working person can't. Working people are busy and under work stress, while retired people are totally free of those constraints so conflicts arise.

I have no interest at all in dating a retired person.

I see your point for those lucky enough to have a job but lots of us dont and end up with lots of time on our hands and limited incomes which can be a pretty boring and sort of a catch 22 existence......

different strokes for different folks, i'm just saying why I would have no interest in dating a retired person. Two people, not working, with limited incomes, free time, sounds like a good match.

I am retired (early) and have never been so busy. I travel all over the world, and have dated women from many counties. The wonder to me is how I ever found time to work, but I am still working.... at living.grin angel devil

Yes I am but I wish I weren't. I'll just say that the retirement was forced due to disability.

I loved my job. Would have even paid the boss to let me work if I could have. But I'm no longer able to do it.

The bigger problem may be the disability not the retirement. I don't mean this to be harsh but honest. Disabled people seem to be attracted to active people and want to date them, then expect a person who is not disabled and is very physically active to slow down and/or curtail their lifestyle to fit the needs of the disabled person. Why don't disabled people want to date each other? I have had experience with this, men who have tried to convince me they are healthy and active when in fact they have limitations and disabilities that curtail their activity, and they expect me to be understanding and change my life to suit their limitations.

Just saying, sometimes someone who is disabled tries to portray the situation differently than it is. You said you were "retired" when the truth is you are disabled and not able to work. Be honest with people and you will find the right woman for you.

You assume I'm not active. I am very active and do lots of things outdoors. No I can't go rock climbing but then I never had the inclination to do that anyway and running is out also. I hunt fish and swim camp and do things that are considered active. I am active in the community and am a member in a few organizations.

It's unfair for you to lump disabled in just one pot.

They you should not be unable to find a lady companion, she just might be older than 45 however because you will most likely be best with someone else who is retired. And just for the record, "active" seems to be a very relative term, it means different things to different people. But, if you are out and about so much, you should be able to meet someone, it is just that maybe most women of 45 are not so interested in a retired man.

Oh, and you were 'selective' in your terminology and how your portrayed youself as 'retired' when in fact you are disabled, not able to work. They are two very different things. So, honesty first, eh?

Disabled is a mind set. I like to refer to it as selective forced limitation and then move on.

Hence the retirement.
