I understand what you are saying, probably only a little oldfashion, but I do not enjoy the sound of myself laughing sitting in a room by a computer.

hedistuff: Hmmm...dating site? I joined CS early December 2008. Late January, 2009, began exchanging e-mails, then phone calls with a terrific woman that I met in the 'poet's room' (I highly recommend folks to visit poet's corner for you'll find and meet a surplus of wonderful men and women there). In February 2009, I traveled to her state for a two day visit, which became five days. Then began a series of back and forth visits to her home or mine til June 5th when she moved into my home for good, bringing along her family and their cats and dogs. Not one date! Just home visits. We wed October 6, 2009. The evening of that day, we went out for champagne and dinner to celebrate our marriage. At last...a date!

I know what you mean, I find the dating side of this site to be pretty MEH! So I just enjoy the forums and dont have any expectations, If I meet someone great...In the meantime, Im just really having fun.

the way I see it..
this site is a reflection of real life.
you meet people you like or dislike...and sometimes there is chemistry and sometimes there is not. I think this is a good site to meet new people and learn from them.
but from what I've seen here, I think people who post on the forum are sometimes being funny because they want to be seen or noticed without the risk of being seen as too serious and therefore dull.
I guess some people see this site as something like a job interview, by showing themselves as a very positive person, always ready for a good laugh...
and there are people here just out of curiosity or boredom not really interested in meeting new people to start a profound friendship.
I bet people on the forum who are funny and witty all the time, are the ones most scared of rejection or something.
but that's only my observation.

Just posting in these forums attracts attention, whether it be on a serious or funny note. There are some hilarously funny people here, and they are the exact same in real life too, and even on webcam.

I think you have to be realistic about a site like this.There are many women on here i would like to meet,and who knows,end up in a relationship with.However,they are dotted all over the world,and i have to accept that.

Exactly. I think some on here set their sights too high and expect miracles within days, a few weeks or months. And being realistic about finding a partner here can take alot longer than many expect, if that is what you are here for. Evidence of that is when people put up threads about how long it takes, complaining.
And along the way there can be alot of fun to be had, and friendships made too.
