RE: Is this really a Dating Site?

Hmmm...dating site? I joined CS early December 2008. Late January, 2009, began exchanging e-mails, then phone calls with a terrific woman that I met in the 'poet's room' (I highly recommend folks to visit poet's corner for you'll find and meet a surplus of wonderful men and women there). In February 2009, I traveled to her state for a two day visit, which became five days. Then began a series of back and forth visits to her home or mine til June 5th when she moved into my home for good, bringing along her family and their cats and dogs. Not one date! Just home visits. We wed October 6, 2009. The evening of that day, we went out for champagne and dinner to celebrate our marriage. At last...a date!

RE: In the USA Jazz is dead, and good Rock too!!!

nothing has died...it lives in all of us. frankly, I dig the surprise rising of computer and sites like utube where I can type in past tunes like 'cry me a river' or 'yesterdays' and hear the likes of julie london and billie holiday and so much, much more. one can't dismiss how their parents felt about their music when they were thirteen. my dad wouldn't allow me to play my records on his stereo. he said that they might ruin it...love you dad...and now I've loved your music for many years. I will say this, rap and most current rock is not my cup of tea, but this leaves me little different from every previous generation.

RE: ladies, who was/is the best looking james bond?

if I switch teams, would you?

RE: The American Public Education system...

I've worked in an US public school system for twenty years. I was first a teacher's aide, then switched to a school custodian, for reason. one commenter cited location...yes, this is true. tax base often determines avenues available. education has become a varied panorama. for the most part, I suppose that educators are basically instilled with a vision intended to promote skills that would be best lent to children for advancement in academia, plus life skills. this can be very good. but, I must stress, that my experience is limited to an area of rurality. that is, and in this particular instance, the harsh realities of urbanity or suburbanity, still as yet, don't necessarilly integrate as to affect the pastoral setting, effect, and direction that our school system is presently following (control and reason, by administration and staff, and adherence, acceptance, by students) (this is not to espouse, at all, that simlar results are not found in every environment)......some years back, it was cited by many, that due to circumstance, in twenty years, the US economy could best be descibed as a cottage industry nation...much like france, and spain. in my cool opinion, this appearance becomes more evident every day...so...the answer to your query is what? it's a mixed bag, plus, a student may receive from education, what they are willing to put into it....all too often failing because of the low expectations and lack of support of their families...or their communities. at this time, life in the US is quite easy. it may be somewhat difficult to stress to students, and that they recognize, the importance of understanding and sacrifice necessary for looking ahead, the planning and goal oriented aim that they must adopt. it was said, just last night on TV, by a university professor, that generally speaking...these days, one must be a college grad just to be able to maintain a middleclass lifestyle....hmm....I suppose that I am prejudiced. I support public education. in my environment, it is very effective...for many...oh, I would be remiss if not to note...that my community is mostly caucasion...and unfortunately the students, nor their parents...don't bother to read very much......at all.

RE: Mosque near Ground Zero - Verbal Diarrhea - Part TWO

I'm sure that this has been covered ere to now, but I haven't the time, nor the inclination, to read this whole forum....over where...exactly? are you at all familiar with US laws, freedoms, the constitution? so, a muslim group has interest in procurring property in proximity of 'ground zero' to use as a mosque in their religious practices. what's the problem? what's this 'they and us' business? many US citizens are muslim and are afforded the same rights as any other group. we shall never be in that untenable position of picking and choosing our neighbors. that's discrimination. we have laws to prevent any such nonsense.

RE: Obama did it again! Regulation of Wall street!

never confront the right wing with facts...it only muddles up their fantasy...

RE: Obama will win re-election in 2012 pt duex

jeesh ooby! now why did you have to start bringing facts into the conversation?....10 children are drowning...a republican administration rescues 5 of the children...right wing media...'Hurray for us...we're lifesavers'___vs___a democratic administration rescues 5 of the children...right wing media...'what incompetence, they let 5 of those children drown'...

RE: Obama will win re-election in 2012 pt duex

obama, fine. just as long as we have someone other than a republican.
