America will remain a superpower, but another one to look at is China. China has it together right now with their economy and control of the US dollar (Russia too)

US negotiations are very tender with China because USA knows that to be otherwise would be devastating. The advantage of the US is the Military might they possess.

We in the USA don't have to be #1 superpower in the world; we just have to get along with other Nations and help.

venusenvy: The two newest emerging super powers are India and China

seem will be them who will one of super power country specially in economic

base of news:
"Is very important to emphasize that the super cycle does not mean that growth will continue strong during the entire period. In the last three or four years I is among the most pessimistic about the U.S. economic growth. I'm still cautious because the U.S. economy will still be fighting in the next year with growth below trend. Likewise, Europe and Japan, both will face short-term prospects are still sluggish with flat growth.

As the importance to focus on short-term challenge, but very important still see long-term opportunities. During the Super-Cycle, we believe that China could replace U.S. as world's largest economy by 2020, far faster than many predicted.

"the" superpower, as in the one and only? Maybe... Do you mean militarily, economically, or as a light unto the backward third world nations?

My opinion is that the USA armed forces will learn to share power and will be more of a consultant and arms supplier for others.

The economy will rebound but become smaller due to the ascendance of other major players like China and Russia (again), and regional players like Brazil and Iran. It will be a long time before the US national war and societal debt is reduced in any significant way.

In the longer term, America will merge with Canada and Mexico to form an entity something like the European Union. New currency and politics might be enough to shake things up for the better as far as our collective world stature is concerned. Smaller countries in existence today will vanish from the scene.

But the world as we know it may expire in October. :) In that case, who cares? My laundry is drying as we speak!

You may say I'm a dreamer...

Say China, Russia and India will become the major powers in the world how would that shape with world you think?

For a long time we had a unipolar world with the USA being the leading nation. While some may not like it, it can bring a certain stability. once other countries become equally powerfull things may get difficult?

And how might a future look like in which china takes the place of the US?

Heavy thoughts I guess ;)

I never really think of America as a super power, it is of course, in terms of many aspects, without a shred of doubt, but as a European, British by birth and Spanish by future choice, the acceptance of this is too terrifying for me so I block it out somewhat.

I could not ever envisage living as an American or adopted American citizen, the cultural divide is so huge, much bigger than most of us realise even though we share the same language, mostly laugh

There are lovely Americans on this site though so please don´t take my post as a personal criticism. wave

No criticism at all from your post. Very good and intelligent.

America is a melting pot so to speak. It was the same in Ohio with the Italian and East European influence. Now that I live in Hawaii, I find the same.
