gleneagle: Its a crude form of control to make another feel inadequate. It is also symtomatic of a sociopath. I find that extremly selfish or arogant people exhiit those tendancies. I find that my life is more peacefull when I can let go of resentments. However if a friend double crosses me that is a different story

It is considered "shouting" when one types all in caps.

In answer to your question, I think most people expect perfection in others because they assume that is what is expected out of them. No one is perfect and we are all flawed, having the ability to forgive is a hard lesson to learn.

Human beings have difficulty seeing things from another's perspective. There are some really open minded and generous spirited people who keep calm in most situations and get along well with just about everyone. These people are rare exceptions, I think. OP, you ask "What has happened to acceptance and forgiveness...?" I don't think it was ever prevalent. Probably you were raised to expect it, but as a generality about the human species, it has not and does not exist in most people. We are all flawed, yes, but we tend to not see our own flaws so clearly as others do. And we expect more from others than we ourselves are giving. Being judgemental is not a new thing and is no more prevalent than it ever was, imo. I aim high, and try to be open minded and generous spirited, but I know I don't always achieve that. It's the best I can do, to keep trying. I admire those people who are truly so, but, as I said, imo they are few and far between. Don't expect others to accept and forgive as much as you would like them to, they are only human.
