SilverBirch: More Americans died in that conflict than any other.
And as long as we don't get tricked again into fighting wars for other countries like we did in Iraq, it could that sad "record" for a long time.
I don't think that the record will ever be broken . It was sloughter on an unimaginable scale . The technology of the time raced ahead of most generals ( nothing new in that ). The cival war has also been romatacized in novels and movies however the real thing was nowhere near romantic ! It was a long, bloody, hard and ruthless curse on the land . Nothing heroic or romantic about watching a counrty hemorage to death !

What would have happened, if, after the Civil War, the Northern forces occupied the conquered southern states. Rounded up the citizens. Annexed their lands and declared them second class citizens. Built outposts in amongst the region and levied discipline with an Iron Fist.

Where would America be today?dunno

rolling on the floor laughing

Right where it is now as that's what did happen. Read your history Silverbirch. The North did exactly that to the South by not allowing whites to vote and installing military dictators who appointed cronies to administer huge counties for bribe money.professor

They're still at war though Silverbirch, whereas the South was beaten and forced to surrender. Maybe you need to take a day off to do some research on this so you can debate equally.comfort

Sorry Al you need to close your pie hole and see the light. The Palestine s were defeated 30 years ago.
The ENTIRE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY sees THAT! That's why everyone except you and the Apartheid regimen in Israel sees the "occupation" as ILLEGAL IN THE EYES OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

Interesting. Where was the peace treaty signed? What place is known as the 'Palestinian Appomattox' where the Palestinians laid down their arms and agreed to peace?
