I am most definitely enjoy observing others. You can tell quite a bit about someone simply by what they do or don't do.
Otherwise I myself prefer to stay out of the spot light. On occasion I don't mind standing out and reminding myself that I still got it.

If I'm at a party and I know most of the people I'm in the middle of everything and laughing and haveing a good time. If I don't know many people I watch the people andtry to pick up on what the people do or like then I get involved. Whers the party at.

I'm often the life of the party when its a work related event because my job requires me to be outgoing and host events and present/ MC at functions. The people there would never know that I am actually quite shy.
So I guess for me the answer is yes, I can definitely be the life of the party - when required. It's not my preferred state of being though and in RL I wold never attend parties at all if I didn't have to.
