I joined this a few weeks ago but only discovered recently that the forums seem to be really active here. Lots of banter, some arguments, and a lot of interesting conversations to be had. I've spent some time reading past threads and it all certainly seems interesting. So I thought that I'd start joining in on the fun.
It seems to be the done thing to introduce yourself if you are new to the forums. (Appologies if I'm incorrect on that!) So, well, here I am It also seems many new posters are given some ridicule for posting so really hope this doesn't offend anyone! I also see that some people who post on the forums are given a hard time due to having no picture on their profile (being a "paleface" it seems to be known as). I personally didn't put a picture onto my profile because of my life choices. I haven't come out to my family and I've recognized a few faces around here, so I really don't feel comfortable putting a picture up at the moment - but have no issues with sending anyone a picture to validate that I am real, and am here for genuine reasons - so I hope that I'm accepted into the circle picture or no picture, pale face or no pale face.
I decided to try internet dating after my last relationship ended due to me having to move for job reasons. The dating side of things hasn't really gone that well, so figured internet dating I might learn more about the person before meeting them and investing time and effort into the relationship. I also really liked reading the forums here because so many of you seem really nice and even more seem to be friends either in real life or in other forms (social networking sites, etc etc) Due to moving I don't have a lot of friends around at the moment, and no partner to be with, so some new friends, or a new relationship would be great
Sorry if this turned into a really long message but I just wanted to introduce myself properly, so hopefully looking forward to getting to know people on the forums and to joining in on the fun and frolics!

Maybe try your own pic too just to make it more real

Thank you 70Libra - I can appreciate that fact (not sure what the link is to or why you shared it) - but I did take the time to explain myself as to why I have no picture up. In case you missed my explanation I said: "I personally didn't put a picture onto my profile because of my life choices. I haven't come out to my family and I've recognized a few faces around here, so I really don't feel comfortable putting a picture up at the moment - but have no issues with sending anyone a picture to validate that I am real, and am here for genuine reasons" If you want I can send you a picture if you have a problem with me not having a photo publicly displayed.

Did you read the OP? She explained why she didnt post her own pic. Thats a nice welcome for someone. And people wonder why the forums are less active.

I don't think she saw where I explained why I had not publicly posted a photo onto my profile, or that I had no problems in sending a private message with a photo to anyone who wants one.
I'm only new here, I don't want to enter into an argument already, so I just explained myself again, its not worth falling out over really. As I said in my original post as well, I have seen a lot of people here not be very welcomed due to having no photo, so I wasn't surprised that someone might have a comment about not having a photo.
Thank you leaping to my defense Freshstart74 it's appreciated. But I didn't take 70libra's comment too harshly as I think she meant it in a good way

Thank you for the suggestion Losty, I never really considered it from that angle. I personally felt the standard no photo picture (a.k.a the pale face) was quite boring and a bit ugly. So I just simply posted a photo of someone with a mask coming off as that is how I feel a lot of the time. Not being fully out can feel like living behind a mask sometimes. It was meant as a philosophical photo instead of a misleading one. Thank you for giving me another perspective on this.

I have just changed my profile so that the photo now has a caption.
I did go to the trouble to explain why I had no photo up, that I am happy to send anyone who wants it a photo. So I'm not seeing how I am being misleading. But I thank you both for the opposite perspective on the issue. Again, I updated my profile with an explanation on the photo so I hope this clears up any current or future misunderstandings.
welcome to the forums and C/S..i hope you enjoy your time here...and you dont have to have a picture up..there are plenty of regular posters that dont...jmo..
