Just reading this story from the RTE news page..Romanian man assaulted by two Irish men had to have surgery on his arm because it was almost severed.barf What really strikes me is the two guys were released and re arrested over 12 hours later!!!

We're meant to be one of the most friendliest countries but with attacks on foreigners rising I think we'll lose thatdunno

It's tragic but been going on for awhile now, remember those two Polish guys that were murdered by that 16yo in Dublin a few years ago. Unfortunately it happens everwhere, not just Ireland.

I'd be in favour of the American model when it comes to sentencing. 3 strikes and you're out... Maybe 5 strikes here. It's a nonsense that someone can appear before a judge with 60/70 convictions to their name. 99% of the crime in this country is committed by less than 3% of the population!

I can't see why they didn't just cut him arm off altogether, whats the point in leaving it hanging on by the skinrolling on the floor laughing
the law is this country is a bit of a joke alright, I know somebody who killed 2 people in a car accident, the car he was driving was stolen and he had no insurance, He got 5 years in jail like wtf?? Theres some people I hate out there so If I was to knock them down and kill them bearing in mind I have insurance and a clean licence I might get away with a 3 year sentencelaugh sure I would be out in 2 years for good behaviour wink laugh

Think it's a small minority. I remember seeing 'death to the English' written on a wall somewhere in Dublin a few years ago but everyone i spoke to on that trip ( & indeed every other trip ) has always made me feel more than welcome wave

Australia is just as bad if not worse, Have you ever heard of Chopper Reiduh oh
Any Aussies I have met were very much in your face and are quite aggressive, and remember the young Irishmen who were beaten to death on the streets of Sydney

Ok there are assaults by Irish people on foreigners but it is not all one way,, not all of the foreigners are angels..
There are as many non national thugs in this country as there are Irish,, they are a class of people who just like being violent,, pity we couldn't lock them all up in a big stadium and just let them batter the hell out of each other, leaving the normal decent people to get on with their lives in peace.

blipper2000: its got one of the lowest crime rates in the world
its the country i felt safest in
the fact of the matter is that violent assaults in ireland are fairly low comparede to the rest of the world

Things like this happen in every country every day every hour, When you piss somebody off you should expect to get your haed handed to you, I very much doubt these men near cut that romanians arm off for no reason

Well if the men would have to do it let the women do it as well, equal rights and all that.

If you go out looking for Trouble you will usualy find it,Some people just cant seem to mind their own buisness anaway and end up getting bet up,
And the cops are more interested in hiding in hedges and gateways on roads trying to catch people speeding,
They should pay more attention to whats going on in the towns and cities and be on the look out for Trouble makers and take them off the street,
