Hmmm, the only real surprise was the toothpaste, but I´ve never bought that brand anyway.
The talcum powder scare started in the sixties and my mother stopped buying it so I´ve never used that either. Other young mums like myself thought I was peculiar for not using it on my babies!

Most of todays products are a little unsafe, but the one curse that came out in the 60s are aerosols of any kind...
Yikes! Ive used some of those products in fact I have Lysol right now. Here with the heat and humidity, you have to have a germ/bacteria killing spray for trashcans.
i use the roll on for underarms and essental oils to fragrence the rooms, tea tree oil is an anticeptic and used in hospitals now,and lemongrass wards off flies etc,

Thanks EW, I've had a skim through that article.
I'm pretty careful with which products I use and never used any of those listed.
I use a lot of Ecover products, but I'm now thinking that they contain ingredients that may have affected my immune system over the last 10 months. Sometimes, even natural, biodegradable products can cause a reaction.
ali110: did u come from hospital ? u posted many threads about health
No I dont', but I like healthy food and healthy products the more natural the better. I practically never use medication either. I use herbs or essential oils combined with healing and mind over matter.
So far it has served me well ... Thanks for asking Ali

jac379: Aha...that'll account for the healing effect that using Ecover laundry bleach had on my hands the other day. Peroxide sounds like a good replacement for the biodegradable cleaner that I'm using at the moment.
Keep going, EW.
Have you tried those washing balls? I don´t suffer from any allergies fortunately but I´m trying to adopt a greener lifestyle.
I was highly dubious, but after using it for a month now I´m converted!

great post, can anyone suggest how to kill dust mite and rid of allergens...it seems even good vacum cleaner is in effective on 35 years old stuffed victorian period style furniture...urgh..big problem.
I haven´t used mine for handwashing but I know they can be used for this purpose.
There are different brands on the market so check them out on the internet before you buy.
I don´t buy detergent or fabric conditioner anymore, but I do add a little environmentally friendly oxygen based bleach for whites and wash in warm water. However, I did this before with the detergent. With the ball I always use the cold wash cycle or 30 degrees maximum for more soiled clothes or whites so saves on electricity and water which is particularly precious here in Murcia.

I don't know how to kill dust mites but I can tell you the best anti-estamine which could do the trick ... for dust allergy ...
Make an infusion (tea) from white nettles (clip about the 5 top cm of a baby plant) AND plantain leaves. Plantain is a plant with long leaves and whitish flower like stems in the middle of the leaves. It usually grows near nettles as it is the antidote for nettle stings.
