bestbefore: A fantastic man who gave so much to golf has died today at the age of 56 from a brain tumour. Respect to a great person and to his family who mourn his passing.
Very sad, Seve was probably the most charismatic golfer ever & certainly one of the greats. I was fortunate enough to meet him & speak to him once at a tournament. Will be very sadly missed .

"Today, at 2.10am Spanish time, Seve Ballesteros passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in Pedrea," a statement said on his official website.
Ballesteros was one of the sport's most celebrated personalities from the mid-1970s to the 1990s, collecting 87 career victories, including three British Opens and two Masters titles.
He was also a crucial ingredient in Europe's rediscovered love affair with the Ryder Cup before retiring in 2007 with back problems.
Ballesteros was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour after losing consciousness at Madrid airport in 2008.
He underwent four operations to remove the tumour and reduce swelling in his skull, as well as chemotherapy.
He called his battle against the tumour the "hardest challenge of my life".

So sad. My admiration and respect to Ballesteros, where ever he is.
Without beig a fan of golf but admiring the people who live their lifes with passion in the very many different ways here is a clip of a film about golf that I have enjoyed many years ago with my children.
It is a moving film -it shows passion for life- no matter what your career is and in this case it is golf.
