As I said before ,I don't really bother about being an "in person" on the Forums which is what I think the thread author was referring to.You would get too "emotionally" hung up if you did.

My real friends are in my life which is far more important .

Actually I was talking about real life, didn't know they were referring to being popular "in here", but I guess anyone who's popular in real life is popular anywhere, is just the way they are, they don't have to really want to be liked, they are liked because of who they are.
And yes, from experience if you spend too much time here, you get way too emotional, not cool at all, life is OUT there, not IN here...

People usually become most popular by networking a lot and being available. Maybe online that can be confused as being a "clan" because that networking becomes evident in the forums?

Yes you are right about having to be available and here most of the time, on the other hand pleasing others should not be a problem for popular people, is just who they are...
But hey, as long as you're popular in your "own world" who cares about here or anywhere else??

As I am one of the older people on these threads and as I have gotten older being popular isn't so important today as when I was younger. I have my small group of friends today, when I was younger I knew hundreds of people but in reality they are acquaintances. ( hence the word popular ) People come and go thoughout your life & every now & then you meet someone new that has an impact on your life in a very positive way you welcome them and cherish their friendship. That can apply right here on this site. good luck everyone on your search.
