time4fun4u: I have noticed that some new people who come on here get unfair treatment because they put a thread up that has been on before,or someone doesnt like the subject,or it a bit silly ect. However, there are several members on here that continuosly put up stupid threads, and nothing is said.
Having been on and off here for over 3 years I have seen a lot of this. The responses to a thread or post often depend on who the poster is. And I have oft commented on this.
Its the way here however its cyber world and while it can be annoying or frustrating it doesnt effect me at all in the long run.

Snuggs09: You made a good point that helps to make my point.
When you write "CS is only in my minds eye .....". That is why it's a problem for me when people ignore me because I take the people on CS very seriously even though they are cyber people. I still think of them as someone who has a heart with feelings. Someone who can be hurt, or is sick or has family problems. When they write about something sad in their life, I feel it in my gut. I take CS people to heart. I think of them as real people.
That's absolutely the right way to go, Snuggers. The people behind the words (mostly ) are real.
It's a relatively new way of socializing, the rules of etiquette are different from face to face contact and sometimes its difficult not to react like the words are something you've read in a newspaper that you can have a bloody good rant about.
I think the problem comes when folk take things too personally, or read more into something than is actually there. Some of the friends I have made, or the people I like/admire, contact has started with a bloody great argument. Sometimes having opposing views puts us off people, sometimes we have to go away, calm down and maybe sort out our differences, sometimes we agree to disagree and it makes no difference to the way we feel about someone. That bit strikes me as being very similar to face to face contact.

That's the part that I have trouble with because I'm seeing that if I disagree with someone today they will ignore me tomorrow. It's proven itself time after time. I'm whining about it because it does hurt my feelings. And It's really sick that I'm whining about this.

maryrachelle: Stop thinking of them as real. If I Started taking being ignored to heart around here I would have a permanentaly broken heart.
I'm sorry Mary, I have to think of them as real. I don't have a mean bone in my body. I'm opinionated but the things I've seen on here, how people bash and argue at the drop of a hat bothers me. I'm very selective of the threads I go in and who is already in them because I know some of those people will have something negative to say about me.
I'm just a human being who treats everyone else as a human being whether behind a computer screen or in the grocery store.
Sterling_Wollops: POPULARITY AND ATTENTION IS NOT MY FRIEND!!! really!
I don't need to be popular. In real life, I'm an introvert believe it or not. CS are the only people I talk to besides my daughter. And even if I'm not liked, it's nice if people give you recognition. That's what I see missing ...... sometimes.
