Partiro: Thanks Dude I cant see it happening for a while though, I dont mind Wicklow but I couldnt understand how Baltinglass were so strong at a club level and Wicklow were (Im sorry to say) so poor

Wicklow footballers have traditionally focused on club football with a lot of hard line rivalry between clubs. As a result many player had no interest in county football. When Micko came he changed a lot of that and the county team became much stronger. However sadly still some of the best footballers in Wicklow are not interested in playing/training for the county team.

Thats a pityt for Wicklow because Baltinglass had some very good footballers, are they still the strongest in the county?

Rathnew are and have been the football kings of Wicklow for the past 10 to 15 years. The famous Baltinglass team that won the All Ireland club in 1990 end around 1996 due to age and Rathnew took over. Rathnew have players like Leighton Glynn (who played in the Aussie rules in recent years) and James Stafford who will be in the middle of the park for Wicklow on Sunday.

That time of year again townie,, its non stop football talk in my part of kildare,, think we are an obsessed county,, so are you going to join in the tipping thread and make your predictions??
what do you think of Johnny Doyle starting in midfield on sunday?
He is some fielder and distributor of ball but can we afford to leave him out of the forwards?

a victim of there own success if you ask me, they got to big, 4 adult teams where they once had 2, its the same at underage way to many players individual coaching like you would get a smaller club goes out the window, there are signs this year that the might be coming with a decent team again

Well we have been very poor in midfield in the league and Doyle plays there for Allenwood, I dont think its his strongest position at championship level but he hasnt named the team yet

for sunday i wouldn't be to worried about midfield, but it would be good to get a settled partnership for the next round, wicklow ahve a few good forwards, but a very dodgy full back line, if ye can get quick ball into the forwards i could see ye winning by 5 or 6 points

no your scoring rate has dropped from last year, but ye have tightened up at the back, kildare have played a great brand of football the past few years, there a great team to watch, ye seem to have a handy minor team this year too

Well they are playing the Dubs in the Leinster Semi Final after beating Offaly last weekend, Kildare as a team arent playing great, they are lacking a leader, Johnny is the Captain but we are missing Dermot big time

We played armagh in a challenge match last week and beat them by 17 points,, Oisin McConville tipped us to win leinster on sunday game on the strength of what he seen,, We have the forwards but they will all need to be on best form and we will still need a bit of luck if we are to do well this year.

massive loss alright aswell as been a leader he is such an intelligent midfielder always knows when to catch and when to break it down

i have heard this is meant to be a very strong dublin team should be very interesting, i think there is a break for the leaving cert now, so that game probably wont be until late june
