How to make friends and influence people (12)

Hi, hope I get some response so we can have a nice light hearted or heavy hearted discussion.

It it important for you to make friends, are you happy with your circle of friends. How much importance do you place on being a good impression on someone, is it important for you to be liked or are you simply true to yourself and it doesn't matter whether people like you or not .... etc

You get the gist so comments please.

I have a small circle of friends, who are very much like myself, we are totally honest and relaxed around one another, I also have one very close friend, we are more like sisters really, we grew up together and we seem to sense a lot about one another, like if one of us is sick,the other seems to pick up on it.

I do get on with most people,I don't try to impress people, I am what I am, so if people can't accept that, then they aren't worth knowing in the first place.

CS is a classic example of some people trying to be what they are not.....some tell you how full their lives are, what assets they've got etc, trying to impress you.....in reality their live are very mundane...(I can speak from experience here!)

It's good you have some good friends and are like sisters - although if it were anything like my sister and I that would not be friendly! I think it is too easy to lose contact with people and some good friends I made when my kids were younger, parents of their friends, I have lost contact with but made others. A Facebook search was good in looking up those people and catching up online on our lives.

It was nice when my kids' friends came round to play, or vice versa, and us mums would natter, but when the kids go to secondary school and there is no school gates to gather round it is easy to gradually lose contact. It's a shame when friends go different ways and perhaps move or work longer hours etc.

I don't try, and people take me as they find me. It is easier to be more open on the net with anonimity and although obviously being respectful and going with the CS forum rules it doesn't matter too much what people think of us on here as much as real life.

I know what you mean about people saying how full their lives are. I don't know where they fit in the time to do all that what with the commute to work and weekends shopping etc., but I suppose their time is differently managed to what we imagine it to be.

In times gone by I did have to influence people with regard to work etc., One never gets a second chance to make a first impression. When it comes to career then that is something there is no room for hiccups.
I do have very special friends, many I would say but there are only a very few very close. I would die for them, your dearest friends are the ones that you can call on at 3am if needs be.
I never consider if people like me or not. If they do nice, if not then no fuss they can just jog on. Time I have but not to waste on shallow people.

Thanks! I was also a bit put off thinking that there were too many word games which are fine for others but not my cup of tea, so I would love to contribute more and will do.

As I have got older I feel more comfortable and don't worry about impressions I make and am more confident with myself but that is I suppose natural.

I hope we get some more responses, which will be good.

Older, not old

My profile says my age, my body says my age, my face says my age when I have no make up on anyway, but my brain still thinks I am in my 30s, which I suppose is the most important thing anyway. I am not learned or clever, but to me once my brain goes that will worry me! Aches and pains of joints can be eased but loosing it up top scares me silly. Perhaps I need the word games to keep my brain active.....

Haha, I am beginning to like you!!! (I am not into females either, so not in THAT way, haha). Yes, I never thought that coversation on here could be challenging but I suppose it is, although requires less concentration than say reading a book or watching a programme.
