I view anyone who uses multiple profiles as a coward who is not worth investing any time,energy or emotion on.
If you can not stand alone and without back up from friends then you are not worth anything to me.This is the bloody interweb and not real life.

Aaah, the wee one's just fine thanks. Five months old now, loves to shout and sing tunelessly (sometimes aaaallll day ), has learned to giggle (its a prerequisite for living in this house) and is getting frightening close to crawling

I posted on the thread about whether the UK forums are welcoming and said that I have found that so. I said hello to Sail and pointed out that she was very welcoming to me, directly refering to a thread of hers about rhyming slang, in which I posted quite a few times, (a first for me on the UK forums) and found her to be very warm to me, particularly as I am a stranger to her.

I've just looked back at the "unwelcoming" thread. It's 2 pages and I see no squabble.

Obviously, you think I should know about a particular argument, but I'm still utterly perplexed. Perhaps you could send me the link?

OK, I'll answer from a site owners point of view. I don't know if what I say applies here though.

You can MAKE a profile from any location you choose, and nothing is wrong if you're banned. It's where the profile is USED is where it gets noticed and is the problem. In the top right of every post on the forums that is made, there is a 'button' to check the IP of that person.

In the Administrators section, when looking at a profile under suspicion, it will show a list of IP addresses they've used, and who else has posted/joined from that IP.

Using proxies is now not a viable option to get past a ban, as most of the known proxy servers are usually banned.

Some sites even track MAC addresses, so they will know who's using what PC. There are other tools available to ensure a safe site is kept.

As I mentioned before, it's only from my knowledge of sites I've worked on. If it's the same here, then it's just the way it works.


I've said it before, but usually multiple profiles are made to stir things up where someone doesn't have the kudos to do it themselves. They will use them to make trouble, or to back themselves up in an argument.

Either way, they are used by people who are too scared to say what they're really thinking, and that alone means they can't be trusted.
