normalguy68: The nly problem is that when rents are between $400 - $500 for a 1 bed appartment in the central Sydney area, it would seem like you would be chasing your bills moreso than living, ie: living to work.
In order to work to live, you need to start with low overheads.

Then you get a 2 bed apart and a flatmat and guess what

$200 - $250 each & split bills wine

That's only a little less than I'm paying to buy a house.

In response to: Yes lots has been happening, got made redundant after 7 years so have rented out the house and organised all my stuff going into storage and will be on the move by month's end

So if I end up in Sydney (a place I like), what things would I need to know or learn lol

This should be interesting

I lived in Sydney for 5 years in my 20s and loved every minute of it- you'll have a fabulous time!
I lived all around the inner west- Glebe, Annandale, St Peters, Newtown, Erskineville and those areas would still be my pick. Great cafes, markets, transport, parks, walks, events, shops, theatres, pubs, and a surprisingly high community spirit. There is a huge assortment of food from all cultures, lots of live music, and to be honest I usually felt pretty safe, walking around on my own or with friends.

There's usually not much furnished accomodation, so you'll probably need to buy a few things- like a bed! But who knows, you may find something furnished.

Your plan sounds great to me- hope you have a ball!

Make sure you pull the dirt over you when you land in the ditch.
