cool No Way! Thats all a rumour.. just all huge lies, President Bush would not be acting so cool and sounding so normal if Korea was realy testing nuclear weapons. No, havent you heard? All that is banned now, totally banned, Mr Bush said so. At least I think it was him who said so... looked like him, and his mouth was moving, and my political-speak interpreter said that was what he was saying. But then I been having problems with my political-speak interpreter... her Yashmac keeps getting in the way and sometimes I can hardly hear what she is saying. I dont have much time to watch TV news because I been doing a lot of entertaining lately, what with winning the Lotto, cruising the med, ferrying all my polital friends over from the middle-east... a few of them even look like that guy Mr Bush keeps trying to persue because of all the oil-wells he owns, in fact the entire country he owns that sits on all the oil. But then they all look like each others brothers, and it gets annoying when right in the middle of our parties at night, this huge submarine comes alongside my yacht and they all go off, leaving us to entertain this band I hired... I think they called the Rolling Stones or something, they just all SO old, its gross. Youd think with all this money, my secretary could have at least hired a younger looking band.dancing dancing

Something for either side; the N Koreans leaders are too busy trying to protect their people to feed them justifying this by creating an “imaginary” enemy. The Americans are worried because it is another”imaginary” enemy which they cannot bully.sleep

I am so sick and tired of people bashing Americans. Or constantly criticizing their president. In part, I blame the media for their distortion of the truth. Most Americans are very decent and caring individuals. They don't go around spewing out negative animosity towards other countries or the people that live in them.. On the contrary, Americans have helped others and even ... died for them.

Anna81,

I largely agree with you. However, with some some reservations, namely, protection against others seems uusally to increase the determination of others to nullify your protection. (Remember, it was Reagan and his star wars program which caused the Soviet Union to give up the fight). There are countless examples of this happening in modern and ancient history.

But what is one to do then? First I try to judge the nature of the country and it's leaders. Doubtless, you'll agree that the country is grinding poor and the leadership a pure tyranny.

Let's not get distracted by how odious America has become; how entirely unashamed of its role in the conflicys of the world. Another generalisation will set of the first you implicitly made. Anyone power in history which has has such total economic and military ascendancy has done the same. History again pounds the point in from the Assyrians to the British Empire. Only, today it is America's turn.

I am not a believer in either non-violence or pacifism. But I do admire Japan's and South Korea's immediate announcement not to go the nuclear way. There is a lot of profound thinking behind these realities. America will be excluded from that area and Russia and China will assume their protective resposibilities.

I could talk and talk to you but I wish you were there to interject and come up with counter arguments.

All the best.

Homer
