What's everyones thoughts on the teacher's strike today and anybody else striking,
I kinda see where they are coming from and wish em good luck in their stand.
I don't really fully understand the concept of striking and if they do work that's fine if you make a stand for what is right but another thing is whether it works in changing decisions on what your strike in for. ( Guess it may if the numbers are right striking I guess.)

Anyway good luck to those of you that are on strike for what you think is right.

what's your views on this subject?

I don't know what the teachers are striking about, Geonee, but I think kids should strike regarding the way they are treated as grade producing commodities who bring in the good school inspections and, of course, the money.

Teaching seems to have become a bureaucratic excercise. It has become about the students providing good results for the school, rather than the school providing a good education for the students.

Let the teachers do their job unhindered, I say. There is a helluva lot more to education than a tally of scores at the end of the year. It should be about personal development in every possible way.

Not just the teachers but Public Sector employees as in Jobcentres, Airport Passport and Border Controls, some Government offices, etc., depending on which Union they belong to.

They have a later retirement date now so that does include paying into their Pension Schemes longer. When they started work all those years ago they could look forward to a 60 year old retirement, but now have to work till 66 I think. It is because with the improved NHS we are living longer. Although we are still the most obese and unhealthy in Europe in the UK.
