I have a six week old Lenovo C series desktop that has just blacked out...(absoulutly no visual whatsoever) It will only run in safe mode with limited operability, No amount of re boots makes any difference... Its been acting up over downloading windows 7 service pack as well, in spite of following all the prescribed windows "fixes"... Furtermore, in its limited capacity, Im unable to use the anti virus software, this is a worry... Short of taking it back to Limerick where I got it (next weekend at the earliest), Im asking have any of you out there experienced a similar problem with a W7 operating system, and if you have, could you give me some practical advice on how to restore the system (backup and restore wont work in safe mode either)...
About_Blank: Im hoping someone can advise me here...

Hi there !
With each new update installed winwows saves all the previous states in case of such trouble. You can go back to a date when you were having no trouble !!

Yup. Start in 'Safe Mode'... Control Panel... Restore.

I hve one meself AB sometimes the screen flashe.s but i have no problem in using the Anti Virus i got rid of the one that came with system and downloaded AVG for me and it working great now
I tried back up and restore, but the safe mode limits all but the most basic of functions, The screen at the moment looks like windows 98 or ME... However, Ill have a pop at "system restore" and if it works, well, happy days...
gingernail: run the recovery software..be best but watch the options as it will wipe out any data stored on it.. was it an update you were downloading are what?
Firstly, thanks to you all for your input, ill get cracking and if i get a result the drinks will be on me!!!!...
Secondly, Hi Ginger...
There is no disk recovery system with this computer, Lenovo have an onboard rescue system, but as i said to TEASE, thats not working because of the safe mode.... Im down to looking at the opitions provided through this thread... No disaster though, its under warranty and i do have the laptop at work should i need it... Thanks again...

It sounds like a graphics issue. If you've downloaded any win updates that affected your graphics, try removing them and see if it works.
If you want a bootable win7 Cd simply get in touch with their customer support and demand a bootable CD. The fact that they 'Lenovo' don't supply one doesn't mean they can't send you one (under EULA (end users license agreement) they must if you ask).
It is possible to boot up and restore with various linux systems..DON'T INSTALL simply boot from a live CD.
You're prob. better getting in touch with 'Lenovo' and asking for a CD (you'll have to supply the model n° & serial n° of the desk top)
I cant download some windows updates, wont let me I keep getting an error code, turns out this error code concerns Microsoft word but seeing as I dont use word at all I wont worry about it
