livefromnj: Would you go on a date only because you are lonely?
No I wouldn't, even If I did feel lonely, I'd go out on a date because I would be interested in getting to know that person better... otherwise I just wouldn't go out at all.
I go get a cup of coffee at Starbucks, or just to the grocery store. Then I look at the people there, and then I figure being lonely is not all that bad. So, while being lonely doesn't really feel good, it may be better than some alternatives.
Must admit I went on a date last night and yes it was Saturday night and I was bored and lonely... turned out to be the best idea I had as I had a fantastic time... met at 6 with an agreement for coffee and it ended as dinner and us agreeing to meet again in a couple of weeks...
So going on a date because your lonely... you go on the date and you are no longer lonely also nothing needs to happen as you can find that you gain a new friend or insights into yourself or even the world at large... Hell go for it and enjoy life... you may surprise yourself...

Everyone feels lonely at times......some of the "loneliest" times I endured were spent in the company of someone I did not want to be with...so no, I would not go out with someone just because I was feeling lonely.......better to watch a good movie, read a good book, or listen to good music...
Also turns out the lady in question was feeling lonely and she was open and honest about it... We all get lonely its natural, its why we seek out others... if you like the person go or if they interest you go... enjoy yourselfs...

Right off to sleep...
Theres a difference between a date and stepping out for a cuppa joe or a drink/dinner with a friend IMO
