Man join the local backpacking [Bush walking] club, New Zealand has some awesome places to hike, and what better way to get to know someone then walking and talking and maybe getting a little lost in the bushes *Wink Wink*
make a snow man, chop lots of wood you'll be needing it in Oamaru, learn how to stamp your feet and yell kar-mati-ka-mati, rub the odd nose while remembering what happened to the Moriori

Join the local rugby club and tell them how much you love the game, especially when they beat the Springboks.

Now you are a guy and guys drink beer, so may I suggest you just go into the local pubs and have yourself a beer
and enjoy the rugby as their will be plenty of big tvs going with the matches on
Am sure you can make a few friends easy there with that irish accent
And drink that horrible black Irish stuff they call 'beer.'
