Is that not just another version of the 'it's not you, it's me' get out line? A bit more sensitive than saying that the person isn't all that you thought they were....

some people make the mistake in expecting everyone to behave as others have.. trusting someone new is easy if u blame the past on th eoffender and not the world.

some people use the past as a convenient excuse

some people might think they are ready but thats not good enough because you get into a relationship and then hurt the other person by saying ''oh sorry im not ready''

There won't really be feelings after a few days or weeks. Its a gentle let down...nothing more, nothing less...laugh

Not from both sides if one is prepared to walk away after a few days/ weeks. And it's a lot more gentle than being told bluntly something that might hurt...and the list there is endless in its range of possibilities...

You've seen threads here about people who have types or non negotiable deal breakers. A lot of the time friends may convince people to move outside their normal 'type' and suggest that they are too closed minded. If someone then tries dating a person outsite of type but finds that they still have a definite type I think its more gentle to say they are not ready than to say you're too fat or old or grey or bald or short or common or.....dunno
