Thank you for clicking this thread. Now, what I have to say is, I am most proud to present a New Book!

You all been waiting for me to publish my ...ahem ....books (?), but my son has beaten me to it ....... and his first book was published yesterday!

The title is "They call me Nightwalker" ... by R.van der Weide.

Now, you can buy the book by ordering online from the publishers at a lower introductory price, or you can also buy it in eBook form for reading on those new electronic book reading gadgets called a Kimbel or Kimble or whatever it`s called.

OR ......

If you do or you don`t buy the book, doesn`t matter which, PLEASE go to his Facebook page and give him some "like" clicks,

And then .... go to the books Facebook page .......

!/pages/They-call-me-Nightwalker/303825926305254

and join the group, and/or give your "Like" clicks.

All this is to help in further promotion for publishing, not so easy in this modern day and age for an unknown author to get his book promoted, he has to do it all himself (and his mother has to help himrollers )

Thank you for doing thatbowing rose rose rose

Soliciting isn’t allowed on this side, but nonetheless good luck with the book.

Oh dear me. Asking fellow forum members for support for a personal venture is classified, in your esteemed opinion, as "soliciting"?

Facebook is a widely used and extremely popular platform, and asking people to add their "Like" to it is an internationally accepted method of gaining support for small time ventures.

The publishing world of today has moved ahead and is influenced more by "clicks" on a link than any other motivational attempts budding authors are able to use.

And that is why I am taking advantage of this Forum to ask for this support.

If it does not appeal to individuals, they need to just ignore it.

I’ve just wished good luck, and pointed out that your commercial is indeed soliciting that isn’t allowed here. laugh

As to ignoring what I don’t like… sometimes I ignore, sometimes I object, and I think it’s my choice for every given situation.

I do so humbly apologise to you Tulefel, and beg forgiveness for having not thanked you for your good luck wish. So you may take this as a Thank You, a heartfelt great big thank you. Thank you.

However, tis not I, but the author of the book, the person who pout in 2 years of labour to produce it, who would like to enjoy the luck.

Most times in life it is good to try and help a person who has made an effort, and to give them some encouragement, which does not cost anything, except a tiny fraction of one`s time.

Some time ago, I’ve started to notice a blogger writing in Live Journal. And not that long time ago, his texts have been published as a book, and (azohenvey!), I’ve seen it in the local library and lent it, though I’ve already read a part of it as a blog. And now I know that I want to own a copy of it. They don’t sell it in Sweden, so I’ll have to ask my Russian friends to send me a copy after their Christmas.

Can be a move for a beginner writer to publish some bit of her or his book on net – for free, and then if people like it, they will buy a book, or at least they will tell their friends about it. Nowadays I seldom buy a book if I haven’t read something by the author in question before.

Well, you know, the author does have a Blog site, which I have never mentioned here (I don`t think, although I may have and forgotten about it or its buried somewhere in the archives by this time) .......?

This thread was/is just a sort-of "refresher" thing for the recent actual publication.

Similar in a way when I was doing a a bit of promo for my chef when he entered the Swiss Talent Search competition, with his singing and terrible piano playing.

Not a train-smash for those not interested - there are masses of far more interesting threads to peruse and comment on anyways, hey?

And nowadays, what is so nice is one does not have to clutter up one`s bookshelves with actual books, you can simply download an eBook for a fraction of the book price!

I’m old-fashioned in my literary preferences: I want to hold a real book – a physical body – in my hands. I can take it to bed, to the sea shore, to waiting room in a hospital or at the mechanical guys. There are books that you just can’t part from till you’ve read it to the end.

What is his book about?
Any link for the content of the book? or a taste of it?

Paper books are much better for me too. What we -several friends- do is we all buy a book and then we exchange them -if we like the theme-.

Another option is to download the book and use a program that is called Ghost reader (for Mac computers) and have "someone" read it to you. That is nice and some voices are beautiful and their pronunciation is perfect! I like the "Rosa" voice.

wave Hi Maisie! SO nice to see you here!

Thank you - yes I am very proud of him - and his ability to spend hundreds of hours dedicated to his research and writing. Well, at least it kept him out of mischief!wink

Gone are the days when one could send manuscripts off to agents or publishers ......and sit back and wait (unless you`re a headhunted established author!) - now you gotta do all the leg-work and prove yourself first!

That is also what is so nice with having the internet and forums like this and others, and Facebook - one can connect with friends all over the world to gather support.

laugh Hi Horizon , yes I suppose there are many different versions of "nightwalkers"!grin (Maybe you are also an author of a "nightwalker" book?)

Me, I`m a nightwalker. I walk to the kitchen in the early hours for a midnite snack, and then I walk outside for a smoke, and to check out the moon, and see if any Aliens have arrived yet.
