I think CS is like a school who has different and new members every certain period of time: new members come and the "old" one gone. I have been on and off more than 2 years in CS world; usually after long time I didn't log-in suddenly I didn't know anybody around anymore ... nobody will know perhaps the fun part - according to your definition - will be coming again.
