this poem is in the from of aconversatiopn between a young man and a young woman. the friest and third stanzas are spoken by the young man while the second one is by the young woman . the young man tries to tell the woman that there is no one in the world who will value you for true inner worth. he says that is only god who loves you for yourself alone . one the other hand . the young woman tries to impress upon the man that she won't accept any one who loves her for her looks does not care for her inner soul.

handshake Good Poem!

Riddle:

3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

Answer:

Don't Add - SUBTRACT!

First of all, let's clear up a misconception here. It doesn't matter how many people you forward this email to - the answer will never appear on your screen, unless someone decides to take pity on you and reply to your email.

Now, regarding the question of the three men and the bellboy, if this one stumps you, doesn’t feel bad. I remember as a child puzzling over this one for a long time before I finally saw through the "trick".

Believe it or not, the answer is exceedingly simple, and you don't need any advanced mathematics to figure it out.

What you've got to ask yourself is: If the men paid 27, and the boy took 2 from that, why in the WORLD are you ADDING those two numbers instead of SUBTRACTING them? 27 MINUS 2 is 25, which is the total amount paid. 27 PLUS 2 is completely meaningless addition problem.

The thing that fools you into thinking it's a meaningful problem is the fact that the answer is close to 30, so you think it should add up to that. But there's no reason for that addition to add up to anything meaningful, because addition is not a meaningful thing to do with those two numbers in the context of the problem.

Let me put it this way. If I gave you twenty seven apples, and someone took two away from you, would you then have 29? Of COURSE NOT! But that's exactly what the problem writer is trying to get you believe!

The men paid 25 for the room, the bellboy got 2, the men got 3.
25+2+3 = 30

The three men paid $27 for a $25 room . $27 - $2 = $25 the price of the room , not $30 ! . . . Put another way 25 + 2 ( for the belboy ) = 27 add to that the $3 given to each of the men and 27 + 3 = 30 .

cool I had not seen that answer yet!

Two friends have a nice meal together, and the bill is $25

The friends pay $15 each, which the Waiter gives to the Cashier

The Cashier hands back $5 to the Waiter

The Waiter keeps $3 as a tip and hands back $1 each

So, the friends paid $14 each for the meal, for a total of $28. The Waiter has $3, and that makes $31. Where did the other dollar come from?

Bingo NAKEDMUDPEOPLE! EACH is the keyword:

$25 is sitting with the Cashier, $2 with the friends, and $3 with the Waiter. That adds to the required $30.

The mistake is expecting that what the men paid and what the Waiter kept to add up to what the men initially gave. In fact, it is the amount that the meal effectively cost them, plus the amount they received back, that should add to $30.

rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing Very Timely Stringman!!!

Can you arrange seven (7) dots (called "points" by mathematicians) on a sheet of paper to get 6 (six) aligned dot triplets on six distinct straight lines?
