Joe Paterno, aka Joe pa, former head coach of the Penn State football team, died yesterday of lung cancer. sad flower He gave 60 years of his life to Penn State and got stabbed in the back by the board of trustees as a payback. When it came to light that Jerry Sandusky was being accused of molesting a child in the PS locker room about 10 years ago, Paterno gets fired because he "only" notified his superiors and did not notify police directly. His superiors did nothing, yet one was allowed to retire and Paterno was denied retirement and promptly fired. The coach who caught Sandusky allegedly raping the child, allegedly did nothing to stop it, left the locker room leaving the child with Sandusky and first reported it to his father the NEXT DAY! He is still working as a coach at Penn State. There is NO way I believe others did not know about the alligations concerning Sandusky and they did nothing. Paterno was fired because as head coach he said he wished he did more. In hind sight, don't we all wish we did something in our lives different? Charges are brought against Paterno's superiors, Paterno was cleared of wrongdoing. Sandusky was suspected of being a p*dophile since 1997. Why did this come to light now? There is ALOT wrong with all this and Joe Paterno was made the fall guy. Joe Paterno was knocked down, but his legacy was NOT knocked out. It will live on forever with Penn State and beyond. Justice for the victims will be done when ALL the trustees and coaches are replaced!

Rest In Peace Joe and know you will be remembered and respected as you lived by by football and non-football fans alike.

Bye Joe sad flower beer

It's too bad the media felt it had to include him in a scandal and put a blemish on a otherwise brillient career and life. I can't help but think they had a part in shortening his life.blues

Bribed with what? He was fired and NOT allowed to retire like one of his superiors who WAS INDICTED in this case. He also gave four million to the college excluding the sports department so it was not money.
Paterno was investigated and cleared. What proof you have that no one else does?

Let's give a bronx cheer to the board of trustees who did a fantastic job of taking the spotlight off Jerry Sanduski and putting it on Paterno. What does Sanduski have on Paterno's superiors and the board of trustees that they have been protecting Sanduski since 1997? Why did this come to light ten years after the fact? Why was Sanduski invited to a wedding, golf outings and other activities after Sanduski was caught in the shower at Penn State allegedly raping a kid? Now the BOT say don't think about their decision to fire Paterno, think about what's best for Paterno now that he's dead. They should have looked at what was best for Paterno when Paterno was cleared and asked to retire!

I agree! Yes he smoked, had cancer, and was 85, but I think seeing his life and legacy go down the tubes in a single day took it's toll, especially when he rightfully felt he did no wrong. It will never be known whether it was a day, a week, a month or even years, the accusations, focused on him instead of Sandusky, surely took time away from his life. Without football, he lost his will to live.

doh Joe Paterno lived to be 85 years old. Was he a smoker? Probably was because he had a type A personallity. In any case, he beat the odds to live that long - smoker or not.

thumbs up handshake wine

Newton's Law of Physics; For Every Action There An Equal And Opposite Reaction, not only applies to Science, but to Life also. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The Love you make ia equal to the Love you take.

Otherwise there are consequences to be paid.
